I now christen you horsewithoutteeth after that comment.

I've never understood how Watershed is more "mainstream" than other Opeth albums. Maybe more accessible, yes, but definitely not mainstream.

DT does rule, yes. I just like Meshuggah a little bit more now.

Speaking of which, I may be going to see DT open for Iron Maiden in Cleveland sometime in July.

Scott, given your general dislike of harsh vocals, you might actually enjoy this album. They're completely nonexistent.

Seems pretty dumb to review a prog/black metal album when you don't like black metal.  No matter how good it is (and yes, it is), you will never like it, so all you do is give it a lower rating then it deserves because of how limiting you are in your musical tastes.

It would be like if I went around reviewing Rush albums and gave them all 2 stars because I don't like 9/10 of their albums

accessible = mainstream, no?

Not necessarily. Watershed is accessible, but progressive death metal isn't exactly going to whet the musical appetites of mainstream music fans. Wink

I tend to think of them as two separate terms.

You'd be surprised Tongue

Did you know death and black metal are mainstream in Columbia?

New name.  Still an ass.  As I said it was my first review on PA.  You might also note that I have not reviewed any other albums from Opeth for that exact reason.  And believe me there are plenty of people out there like you who have rated Rush albums with 2s or less simply because they don't like them.

The one that came before (I forget the name)  was a bit better, but only because of the song Dark Eternal Night
