They got a long way to go yet considering they only wrote 15 minutes worth of music so far.
Get busy, guys! |

I dunno. I'm always hesitant with rock supergroups.
But the way it's described makes me interested. The description sounds almost like a Kayo Dot album.

I can't wait to hear this, but at the other side I'd like if Dan Swano and Akerfeldt were joined the forces for Sörskogen. That would be surely great. But nevertheless, this will be good.
I wonder if they will have a name as a band or they will simply be "Wilson-Akerfeldt-Portnoy"... Edited by AstralliS - May 24 2010 at 12:46 |

Yeah, definitely interesting combination and worth checking out mostly because of Åkerfeldts presence. I've always been sceptic when it comes to these supergroups, no matter how great names there are involved. So far I have found no more than "pretty good" albums by these concepts. Transatlantic is an exception though! I hope there will be whole lot of acoustic stuff like Opeth did on Damnation.

Very tantalizing to say the least...could be amazing, could be snoozy. Portnoy is such a set element in prog now, you know it will be solid but I prefer jazzier drummers. Still, considering the "Heart of Winter" it's clear Akerfeldt is itching for something very different from Opeth for a little bit. Which should re-energize Opeth's sound too.

You are quite a fine person, and I am very fond of you. But you are only quite a little fellow, in a wide world, after all.

But they want to sell more albums and actually make something for history... they couldn't choose a better drummer... I hope Wilsons input will be only in music and he avoid singing... sounds like the clash of modern titans... good...

I think Portnoy could ruin this project. Even though not in the running, Danny Carey would prove much more interesting from a drumming perspective.

^ I'm currently not a fan of Dream Theater, but I believe Portnoy is very good.

Oh he is good, just not very creative. There are many more interesting drummers. |
