Demians' singer Nicolas Chapel recently stated that he is currently writing new music for the follow-up to the critically acclaimed debut "Building An Empire". The new material will be recorded during the summer. Chapel says he is excited about writing and producing new music again, and has no plans for a tour this year since this new album has "turned to an obsession": "I don't want to do anything but sit behind the piano or smash fuzz pedals right now. Writing this new music has really washed away my frustrations". "The new material is haunting", he describes. "It's purer in so many ways. Contemplation through chaos. A lot of the negative energy I accumulated throughout the past few years from putting a live band together, mixed with the life-changing joys of touring all over Europe last winter and meeting hundreds of fantastic people has finally turned into a massively beautiful experience. I feel like now is the right time to put it all on tape". When asked if the members of the live band will be contributing to the new album, Chapel answers: "I'd love Antoine and Gaël to add their two cents on a song or two, though not necessarily with the instruments they're known for. They are both very talented people, and are respectful of the way i tend to disappear for months when I have something in mind, so we might end up with something surprising. Aside from that, the music of Demians is still too much of a personal matter to have a producer or anyone else involved in the creative process". The recording sessions will take place "wherever I can find enough quiet and wall sockets to turn the volume up to 11 all day long", starting in May until the end of the summer. The new Demians album is expected to hit your eardrums in early 2010, with an extensive world tour to follow. Check out Demians on www. The multi instrumentalist and French music mastermind Nicolas Chapel finished his new DEMIANS album named “Mute”, which will be released throughout Europe on June 28th and in the USA on August 10th 2010! Go to DEMIANS’ MySpace page and check out the new song "Swing Of The Airwaves" to get a first impression of the upcoming release. With the album Nicolas of DEMIANS takes it all to a new level. If the debut album was the calming friend, who reasoned with you and told you everything is going to be alright, the successor "Mute" is the best friend who kicks you in the butt and drives you forward when your world is tumbling down on you. "I wanted the record to reflect my strengths as well as my weaknesses, so it doesn't sound as pleasing and nice as the first record did” he explains. "Mute" contains nine songs that range from raw alternative to orchestral parts and poetic sounds, but the focus is always on the song. The influences are diverse, reaching from Tori Amos and Radiohead to Ambient music. The album was composed and recorded in Normandy in a house near the sea – again a solo effort with real instruments such as cello, double bass, violin, drums, mellotron, piano, guitar – completely without samples. Why alone? "In a band you always compound with the egos of the others. If you write a book you don’t leave the choice of the verbs to one author and the choice of the adjectives to another one." says Nicolas Chapel.
