couldn't find a good thread for the band with no average rating on pa under 4, so here we go. you can discuss anythingeven loosely related to the band here: releases, live shows, side projects, members, etc. go nuts

One of my favourite post rock bands. Everything they have released is superb. My fave is Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven , a masterpiece. Now they are back, i hope they will release new album.

I've only got F#A#Infinity and Lift Your Skinny Fists... but both albums absolutely blow me away. Brilliant for everything - solid and focused listening, homework music, sleeping to, anything.
Really amazing music.

I've been thinking about giving this band a listen... I wonder which album I should start with, I know they only have a few out as of now. I know Steven Wilson enjoys their music, so I gotta give them a try some time very soon. Any suggestions on which album to obtain first?

they're all fantastic, not so very "ipod material" so i guess you can get any album, put it on and just sit down and listen. the dynamics, textures and layers will blow your mind.

I first heard this band when I watched "Broken Saints" (a movie made in Flash), they used parts of F# A# Infinity for the background music. Very spooky it was.

Definitely Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas To The Heavens - as far as I know, its their most representative and best work so far. It's definitely a brilliant double album

My friend has it, I remember him telling me that the penny that comes with it was actually crushed by a train

Look harder. ![Tongue Tongue](smileys/smiley17.gif) Seriously though... I have from time-to-time searched for it and I am unable to find it anywhere. It will probably never ever be found.

One of my favourite bands and definately my favourite post rock band. Every album I've heard (which is pretty much all of them) has been top of the line 'zone out and hear the sound of the end of the world' stuff. Sort of the opposite of listening to Sigur Ros.
So stoked they're back together, even though living in New Zealand means I'll probably never see them live

I'm really impressed with Godspeed. I remember being scared off by how dark their music was at first, though. It took three or four tries for me to listen to "The Dead Flag Blues" all the way through. I'd get about seven minutes in and then feel so depressed that I just had to turn it off. But I was also in awe of the song's emotional power, and of the band's ability to craft such dark, beautiful, flawlessly constructed music.
In short, they're f#a#ing brilliant.

I used to listen to "f# a#" and "Lift Your Skinny &c" quite a lot when I was a teenager but I haven't really revisited them since. Those albums are basically the soundtrack to all my teenage angst, and I reckon if I listened to them now I'd be reduced to a gibbering wreck within minutes. I'll have to do it one day, though. Maybe after I've heard the fruits of their reunion...

Got all four of their cd's. Very good stuff, they're what got me into post-rock in the first place. I'll have to echo all those who recommended lift yr. skinny fists, that is the peak of Godspeed.
Anyone into any of their other projects? I have the first two by A Silver Mt. Zion (the second is better) and one by le Fly Pan Am (not that great).
