From the list, Spongebob. Way more intelligent than people give it credit for. Amazing voice acting and even better writing. The Simpsons is clearly the most important, but Spongebob is the best. I do also have to give you credit for adding Wacky Races to the list because that's an underrated classic.

The only other animated show that I might consider to be the best of all time is The Boondocks, which is one of the most clever satires of all time.

I would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for those meddling kids and their dog named Scooby-Doo.

I love several cartoons and i never growes old of it I can stil watch comics with a lot of childish features without feeling ambarresed, I love Tom and Jerry, Disney series (Donald, Goofey, Duck Tales, Aladdin, Lilo and Stitch and so on), Mumin troll series,  the Animals of the Farthing Wood,

Im also of the Pokèmon generation so I have watched that one as well (and love it), I like Spongebob imensly, Simpsons are legendary, South Park are above all and should be studied at universities in political studies and satire.

I have a bit of a childish taste when it comes to comics things with magic, humor i like a lot.

I like the old Hanna Barbara (sp?) cartoons from way back.  Simpsons obviously are huge.  King of the Hill is a fave.  I still like Beavis and Butthead on occasion.

Ren & Stimpy I loved.  I have no idea about best, but two that have have a special place in my heart from my childhood are Space Battleship Yamato and especially the Return to the Planet of the Apes cartoon series (though a short-lived series), so voting other.  I also liked the Star Trek cartoon, Spiderman very much, Scooby Doo, and The Hulk (from the 60's) has the best theme song ever!

{Edit embedding was disabled so a url instead, re-edit, which was a broken link, what a doofus I am, fixed.  Hope it's a little trip down memory lane for some that haven't seen it in a long time}

Since you ask for favourite character too -- I don't really have one. Still, I'll keep in line with Planet of the  Apes and choose Dr. Zaius.

For me probably Robot Chicken, which is stop motion, not CGI (CGA?) so probably doesn't count.  My wife is a huge huge huge King Of The Hill fan.  I guess Aqua Teen Hunger Force is out.  I think they use CGI (CGA?).  The Boondocks.  I get most of my cartoon fix from Adult Swim these days.

Ahh, the good ol' days of good cartoon shows. My vote goes, unquestionably, to Scooby Doo thus 'Other'.

However, nowadays the only 'cartoon' show I watch is Family Guy.

I've got two favourites, both animated series from my childhood.. I still love them after all these years Cry

First of all, the brilliant Dutch/Japanese cartoon (technically anime, but not typically anime) that I grew up with, Alfred Jodocus Kwak. Probably the only cartoon that teaches kids about the dangers and absurdity of Hitler and nazism in a subtle, yet ironic way. Other treated subjects are racism and poverty, without the series ever becoming boring at all.

The second one is The Animals of Farthing Wood. My love of nature probably originated from watching these series.

This.  If Looney Tunes were an option though, I would have probably had a very tough time choosing.
