Topic: Do you believe in love / Is it worth the pain? Posted: May 02 2010 at 03:33
Maybe you lost a loved one and couldn't handle the grief, so you decided to give up on love for good. Or, maybe you never lost anyone, but you know they'll be gone someday (humans all die). So you decide to be a smart guy and just stop believing in love. That way your heart won't break, and you won't feel the pain.
Any thoughts? I brought this up because I've been listening to Operation LIVEcrime by Queensryche.

I've come to the conclusion that whether there is a "love" or not is purely a matter of semantics. Humans will copulate, and the specifics are up to the individual.

You like Huey Lewis and the News? Their early work is a bit too new wave for my taste, but when Sports came out in 83, I think they really came into their own.

I don't really think I've ever felt romantic love, so it's hard to comment. If all the songwriters are telling it like it is, though, then love is worth the pain. Life is a struggle, and nothing will always give you bliss.

To love is to find oneself in another person. It's like looking at a distorted and somewhat dirty mirror in a dark room where it smells a bit odd. Of course I believe in it.

There is a difference between love and loveless sex. If you can't see the difference, your answer to my original question is likely "No".
The difference is superficial. It is the will to procreate which drives us.
Even our most powerful drives obey a hierarchical structure, and as strong as the will to procreate is, it is dwarfed by the Guv'nor (The Will to Power)
I'm starting to believe that the elation of romantic love is the sly handiwork of a biological intelligence far greater than that of our summed minds. Is love just (gulp) chemicals and their reactions ? - perish the thought
