Now that Senmuth is added to PA, his entire discography (well over 60 albums) is available free of charge from his website. His music spans many different genres, and is VERY high quality, especially considering his productivity level.

Yeah, he's quite the busy dude! LOL All of these albums have been released from 2004 onward, and it really amazes me that his music is so good, even though all of the albums are made on the fly. Some of his albums have some industrial & doom metal influence (e.g. growling) that I'm confident you wouldn't be much of a fan of, but he has a lot of ambient, ethnic, and Egyptian music that I find pretty enjoyable (provided that I'm in the mood for it). I haven't downloaded most of his albums, but all of his albums have a brief description of what type of music they are. It's pretty helpful when you're looking for a specific type of music, because his discography spans so many different genres.

Happy listening! LOL

This InsideOut Music sampler is available for free download from Amazon.com (at least in the U.S.).

And this Century Media Presents: From the Vault Sampler is also available for free from Amazon (in the US).  I know that at least some of the bands on this release are represented here on PA.

You can download Rodrigo San Martín's album "1" (I think it's the best South American album from the decade by far) and his Singles from his Myspace:

All my currently-available albums are available for free download as zip files.

Of the ones that would be of interest to Prog Archive folks, the Quiet Earth Orchestra self-titled album (reviewed on here) would be one I'd recommend.  The other one (World Without Words) is more of a kind of borderline lo-fi worldbeat sort of thing, but has it's moments.

Of the remaining 5 albums, there are elements of prog mixed in with a lot of other influences...if you have a broad range of musical tastes you may enjoy them, but the only one that would appeal to most purists would be the aforementioned Quiet Earth Orchestra (self-titled) album.

Enjoy!

You used to have to join their fan organization to download their catalog. Unfortunately, they've restructured recently and I don't think their catalog is up for download anymore. It's possible I'm wrong but that's how I understood it based on the correspondence I've recieved from them. Sorry. Cry

The OP is replete with  ahuge load of downloadable tracks.

There are others and it took me over an hour to crawl through this thread and half the uploads are perhaps broken links now:

....however to save others the trouble of reading the entire thread,  here are all the links that seem to be worth checking out ( i am getting through them slowly!) - I CUT AND PASTED THESE DIRECTLY SO I HOPE THEY WORK OVERALL...

let's go with them year by year

POSTS PRIOR TO 2007

Five of the nine songs off Verdun’s debut album are available on their web site (www.verdunmusic.com).

Four complete songs off their “Be” album are available on Salem Hill’s web site (www.salemhill.com).

Three complete songs (one off their debut album and two unreleased) plus four videos are available on Oysterhead’s web site (www.oysterhead.com).

bigelf

They're here:

http://www.ratingfreak.com/home/music/websites.xhtml

129 links, and more than 700 complete songs.
I think that more than 50% of them can be downloaded, some are streaming only. But I'd rather have 128kbps streaming than a lo-fi download.

The site of Narrow Pass offers two songs from the album A Room of Fairy Queen's.
http://www.narrowpass.net/album/album.html
The two songs are less than 128 kbps.

Steve Hackett's website (www.stevehackett.com) has a big list of MP3 downloads - click on "MP3 Jukebox".

Faust (various complete tracks)

Symphonic Slam (full album):

Credo offer 4 full tracks, because of memory restrictions the tracks are at 96kbps. The site is the official Credo My Space.

All of Rain's "Cerulean Blue" is available in mp3 format for download at the official site HERE.

For those who may be interested, you can download 5 full, 128kbps KARDA ESTRA mp3's from Soundclick (or 3 from MySpace) for free by going to the 'Listen' page on my website:

The DGMLive website has lots of free MP3 downloads featuring various incarnations of Crimson and recent solo work by Robert Fripp.

You can find these by visiting the front page of the site for the current hot tickle, and then scroll through the numerous concerts that are available for purchase.  The tracks for down load are clearly highlighted.

As I type the current hot tickle is an improvisation by the 1974 version of the band from their show in Washington.

We also run CD giveaway competition - currently the soon to be released Collectable King Crimson Vol. One double album and a copy of the remastered Giles, Giles And Fripp. Check out the news story on the front page.

Though it's not linked to this site at all, www.drummerworld.com (a site dedicated to drummers) has several full free legal tracks for download on drummers' pages, including Bill Bruford, and Gavin Harrison (Harrison's link: http://www.drummerworld.com/drummers/Gavin_Harrison.html). Harrison's download (only 1, I'm afraid) is a rare track from the Futile promo disc, Orchadia, which is worth the listen. Bruford has 4, being a more established drummer, including Roundabout and Beelzebub. While you're there, take a look around, it's a really well constructed site.

This site is awesome! .

Wow I did not expect there were so many places to get free legal mp3's
