Classic Rock Presents Prog magazine

They'll introduce something like Pink Floyd's One Of These Days as the "lost classic". Bottom line too much flash. Too expensive. Not for old folks from the seventies.

As is the way in life its a case of different strokes for different folks. I say this as an old folk from the seventies . I agree that even in the UK it is dearer then it should be so can understand why people feel agrieved a paying the asking. Personly I have found this mag has given my love of prog a whole new lease of life and now find myself enjoying bands I had previously never heard of. I am still enjoying the old but my palette has ben significantly broadened by the articles and the contents of the CD's. As well as going tos the ee old estalished prog acts, I am now looking to go and see newer bands as well as some whom have been around a while but I had never heard of. 

Having just returned from a 3 week holiday of Singapore, Perth & Hong Kong I was delightted to find the latest issue on the shelves in WH Smith's. Havent read it yet or listend to the CD but will savour it whe I do. After that build up I do hope it isnt a dissapointment

The new issue is an Emerson, Lake & Palmer special with interviews and everything you want to know about this band. In addition, you get Asia and many other bands too. That (does not) includes a twenty page prog rock scene report from Mongolia.

Many may have been fans of or familiar of the above but leading the sheltered life I do sometimes , I have not. So this has reawakend my love of prog. I know there has been som critisism of issue 7 but to be honest I thought it was one of the best so far. A lot of it was given over to bands I hadnt heard of and am now in the process of checking some of them out, some of who are really good. The Peter Gabriel focus was good as I went to see him recently at the O2. I think as a magazine published every 2 months, its perfect. If it went to monthly, they would have to do something about the price. At long last us old proggers have something to smile about . PS AtomicCrimsonRush, Icelandic Volcanos permitting, I am flying out to Oz next week so if you are in the Perth area, I could try and grab you a copy of issue 7 (if there are any left)

I think as a magazine published every 2 months, its perfect takinginto account conten and price. If it went to monthly, they would have to do something about the price, especaily as I am sure they would be unable to maintain the quality. At long last us old proggers have something to smile about .

I work at WH Smiths and today sold this magazine to a local musician who is friends with Tim Palmer (producer of In Absentia), we had a good natter about prog, which was a lovely surprise during work. (even though he called petrucci a 'soul-less git').

I am so doing that... Great idea!
