I don't care for what I've heard from MGMT so I'll probably not check out the new album unless I hear good things about it from people with similar musical tastes.

I've not heard any MGMT that I can remember.

I didn't hear very much, but I heard enough to know that I didn't want to hear more.

I'd just play Merzbow on repeat. Or Sunn O))) through huge bass amps.

LOL

Same here, if the first track of that is any indication of what the whole album is like. LOL

I've made a simple poll for people!

The reviews say it's psychadelic. It's streaming on their website, and I didn't really hear it, but I didn't give it much of a chance.

My next purchase is going to seriously expand my collection of anti-music. But before I decide exactly what that is, Metal Machine Music is en route. And then I'm going to make a thread about how great it is. And people are going to get mad at me for trolling (even though I'm not).

Sometime I'm going to listen to all of MMM.  Not sure when, because that would involve having access to it, and I'm not planning to buy it any time soon.  I think that by owning MMM you win in the "antimusic" department. Tongue

Besides that I really liked Part 1 on Youtube, I feel it's something I ought to own. And from the Amazon Marketplace it's only $8 after shipping. The same goes for Zero Tolerance for Silence, although I'll probably put that one off until later, maybe after I get Song X. What I really want to get is this album, I just am reluctant because I can't believe Evan Parker is only going to charge me 2 pounds to ship it overseas. But if he really is, that's way cheaper than buying it or any other Psi/Emanem albums from a US distributor. I'm also going to be buying this album, along with a few other Ersts that aren't too minimalist. John Butcher is awesome, and John Butcher plus noise is even more so.

I think MMM is too soothing to be really annoying, you need something like GX Jupitter Larsen (to move on from name-dropping Merzbow):
Yes, he's stapling vinyl albums. He has a whole collection of videos on his website.

Those albums both seem like they could be pretty interesting.  What's most interesting to me right now, though, is going to sleep, so I'm going to do that.  Seeya tomorrow.

The new MGMT is my 2nd favorite release of the year, slightly behind Jaga Jazzist. It's really good. The debut was good too, but this was a huge step up, IMO.
