Which days were those, exactly? I've always known it as Real-Barca, not vice versa.

The days when I used to be more obsessed with Real than I am with music these days. (that'd be the glorious 2000-2002 period with two UCL's among othersWink )

Great period indeed (I was also a fan back then), but the more important match was definitely the one played in Madrid back then, like always.

But, is the live webcast working for you?

YUSSSS! watching it on WMP! Huzzah!Big smile

I don't know. Maybe a 2-1 for Barca.

Real was my great love from 1997 to around 2004, but then I've "divorced" them and the business oriented philosophy of the club. I hate what they've become, I and I know the Catalans are the good guys. Still, I do instinctively care for them; I wonder what I'd feel if they won. That would be awkward.

Seems like Real wanted to have more possession and they managed to... for about 10 minutes. Barca are in charge now, as it should be.

When that team (if I remember it well) took shape after the arrival of Figo, they were playing a very strange system with no forwards, just an overwhelmingly offensive midfield line. Well, you could consider Raul a forward, but they were playing a sort of 1-4-6-0. The greatest club team I've ever seen. That is why Morientes wasn't playing that much at that time. Also, they were buying the very young Anelka at that time. They still had Savio as an atacking left-winger, there was also Geremi as a right-wing midfielder. Solari was a tall Argentinian left-wing midfielder, right? There was also the old Sanchis as a stopper. I remember Celades, was he a midfielder?

When I fell in love with them around 1997, they were having Mijatovic and Suker in the atacking line, Hierro and Roberto Carlos in the defense, Seedorf and Redondo in the midfield... For the others I'll have to look up Wikipedia. Their great adversary was the Barca of Luis Enrique, Figo and Guardiola.... Ronaldo had just left for Inter.

Heh, that's a great memory. Smile

Excellent first half. Real did better than I expected. And interesting to see that Barca knows what to do when not having the better possession (which rarely happens).

How could I have forgotten about Savio and Geremi and Makelele?
I know I liked how the defense wings worked with the Speedy Gonzalez Roberto Carlos on the left and Michel on the right. I think Manu Sanchis retired in 2001 -ish? And during that period he wasn't used too much. Heart Great team. Whatever happened to del Bosque?
Hmmm, I think I did something stupid and now the commentary is in Mandarin. O_o

I'm calling it football because you guys are, if we were also talking about American football it would be easier to refer to it as soccer.

I forgot Makelele, wow. He was so important! I knew him from when he was at Celta Vigo.
Sanchis played in the 2001 final if I remember well. He got to play several matches in that campaign. The old age of Sanchis and Hierro, and Ivan Campo's goofyness made the matches interesting, because otherwise they were just too good. Del Bosque went to Turkey but nothing major happened. He's now coaching the great Spanish national side. I hope he continues Aragones' great work and wins the World Cup too.

No Guti, no Raul and no Kaka. There are CRo, Van der Vaart and Higuain instead. Benzema is warming up.
