These came immediately to mind as lame covers. Toltec. I don't even like this one in any regard.  Samadhi and Novalis' first album. I love both these, but what ungiving covers.

Moby Grape's cover for their album Truly Fine Citizen doesn't really make you feel curious about the music.

That's very similar to a Karmakanic cover, I believe  So indeed I didn't bother to check them out.

I've always thought Hatfield's The Rotter's Club cover was hideous. Also- every album cover by Moving Gelatine Plates. I think the album cover should be a reflection of the music- this aids in sales. What appears in my head when I listen to Hatfield isn't a woman lolly gagging on the floor.
Oh well. I am often hypnotized by the album covers in my brother's room of various hardcore punk bands. A lot of them are very beautiful. Ironic.

I kinda like it.
Most of The Flower Kings album covers are pretty bland and ugly. The only one that I like is Paradox Hotel. (I've never listened to any full albums by them, though. This is just from surfing around PA.)

I still remember the moment when I first saw the cover, I was absolutely sure it must be a joke, but well Using this cover was the single worst decicion of their entire career if you ask me.
Otherwise there have been lots and lots of very good covers is this thread

holy crap! I've always loved Iron Maiden covers, but wow... Worst... Cover... Ever!!!!!
If not for the official IM logo, I would've guess this was a "Spinal Tap"-like joke band

Even Yes themselves hated the Tormato artwork if i recall correctly. Rick Wakeman chucked a piece of tomato from his salad at the cover design, and the label said 'that's it, that's your cover!'

Ewww!
I love Sabbath, but that is one uuuugly cover. In fact, many of Sabs covers aren't that great, really. The albums are awesome, but the war pig man on Paranoid, and kimino Ozzy on Sabotage are both pretty cheesy. Sabbath's best cover for me is the creepy witch lady on their debut.
