It looks ok to me. It's a METAL forum. No flowers or purple clouds there...

Wonder if it would be a market for www.classicrockarchives.com as well :-)

That site, and particularly the board, is much easier on my allergy-stricken and generally poor eyes. I often find it very difficult to read posts at this board. Light writing on a dark background strains my eyes less. |

But in a way..... i don't find the forum very legible (readable) with its black wall
I feel like I'm working on a DOS program
the database is fine, though Edited by Sean Trane - April 04 2010 at 20:39 |

Only downside is that both PA and MMA are freakin' slow over here.

I've always wondered why they choose Metallica for inducing detainee mental breakdowns instead of Peter Brotzmann or Merzbow. I guess it makes sense to use something that won't drive the soldiers insane when you're using loudspeakers, but there's a movie about a metal band in Baghdad under Saddam, so I don't think it's completely foreign to them. But it is still loud and annoying, I guess.

I have just taken a look at the new site, and noticed that there are albums included in progarchives, but don't have all the information about the album (like who are the musicians and so). I was wondering if it wasn't possible to just re-use the information from such albums instead of waiting for someone to go in and help the admins to get it? Also, I was just wondering if by chance it were possible to sign in on that site with the account I created here, or would I have to sign up again?

You have to create a new account. But it's as easy as here.

if I may rain a bit on the parade - I steadily lose more & more interest for MMA each time I go & read bios.
I know that it is way too much to ask the new site to instantly write bios that are comparable to PA in objectivity and briefness. And as much as I love the bands that I've checked out so far at MMA, the bios all come across as products of record company Marketing departments. Being that this aspect was what initially drew me to PA, I have to honestly say that MMA is quickly losing any attraction it should have on me. |

^MMA will 1 day have original bio like PA .
1 thing we might consider for PA bands in MMA, is to use the PA bio for MMA . Also, we might blank all the bios at MMA since they are the Last.FM's. We need to figure this out with MMA sub-genres teams. Any suggestions ?

I always thought that too. Meshuggah and Merzbow would be the two I would pick. |

Right now the site is definitely in development. The biggest thing to help is to bring in reviews, so that we can start having charts. Charts are fun and part of what attracts people. We're moving through the artists, cleaning up the data. But there are alot of bands and only so many collabs.
For those with metal reviews here, bring them over (often a few tweaks are in order). Last time I checked Crack the Skye was the most reviewed album so far....

Getting people to do the work i understand the challenge. Lord knows, that when I first wenta searchin' for music sites, that PA, Gibraltar & BNR Metal had been around for some time. So I came across a mostly finished product. Which is probably my point in a roundabout way. MMA is up against long running sites that have established their style & their "audience". And that means that comparisons will be made and preferences may not change. PA members are likely the biggest part of the visits to MMA. But the new site needs more than just us checking it out. And it may not get too many second or third visits unless it gets up to speed very very quickly. |

I'm doing my share in adding original bios for the site. Challenge is that the site needs 100 like me to get up to speed with it *chuckles*
