* Rules such as: Nothing personal, no references to the human body, etc.

Example: Negative Thing about (Insert Political/Religious Figure)

It could be called THE 5 MINUTE HATE/ OR THE RANT THREAD!!

I'd say definitely no, because unless its being constantly moderated it'll probably get out of control pretty quickly, and there's a good chance something would be said to accidently offend another member in the first few posts.

I've heard of some forums having an unmoderated section.... any topic... say what you think and feel...

but enter at your own risk....

pretty much just like the Blue Room Bar and Grill in Stlllwater Oklahoma on a Saturday night...errr... Friday Night...and Thursday night...   crap... everynight it seemed like.  Got a scar from shattered glass from a flying beer bottle that I proudly show off... I got the scar.. he lost two teeth  Cool

probably not a good idea which some of the internet warriors we have here...

^Ha as we've had the discussion before, I've been to those places, albeit in Wyoming and Colorado.  There's reason they put sawdust on the floor.  So I guess sawdust = moderated, however loosely LOL

Realistically, I'm not sure I'd venture near a free-for-all.  I might offend someone.
Can you tell me where we're headin'?

Why vote about it? Just make the thing and let the admins decide.

The current Ranting Room is the finest OT thread on the forum and one of the least moderated simply because people moderate themselves and post with a modicum of humour that permits them to make a point without looking like raving loonies.

If you can't be eloquent enough to express yourself in the Ranting Room without breaking, busting or bending forum guidelines then frankly I don't want to read the kind of mindless ill-informed drivel anyone can emote anyway.
What?

i vote yes
make a shock v thread
put a warning at the top telling people they might get offended
and then if they do its their own fault
its like when people come into the porn store
they might get offended by some of the things in here
but they are the ones who entered a porn store
so its their own fault if they get offended

No. Thumbs Down

We already have a similar thread, and this has never been a wide-open "no holds barred" forum, anyway. There are other places on the Net for that.

I see too much potential for things spiralilng out of control in an unmoderated section that actively encourages "shock value" posting, to the almost certain detriment of the forum, the Archives, and the PA community as a whole.

I like it this way -- actively moderated, generally civil and "safe." Not a place to get too stressed or insulted.

There's already a /b/.  The world doesn't need two of them.

Well.....I'm game for a "say anything" thread, esp for shock!

And seriously, I know this is a moot point to even mention here....but if it is understood as a joke thread then no need to take offense or moderate it anymore than usual. But we know what will happen anyway

Anyway, I'm game but be warned....I can be quite offensive/over the top

Thanks for the compliment on the Ranting Room

Just to add to what's been said before, if you want to post unmoderated bile, there are any number of websites out there which will allow you to do so.

This isn't one of them
