Cornelis Vreesvik is genius, I adore he's songs they are warm and full of sharm. also Evert Taube is nice 

and of course Alf Prøysen is one important figure for young people in Norway, he's children songs are an importan part of my childhood, together with Torbjørn Egner, Geri Lystrup and Odd Boerresen

maudlin of the Well and Kayo Dot have some of the most beautiful, poetic lyrics around.

Some others would be Layne Staley, Maynard James Keenan, and Steve Wilson.

I also think lyrics are the most important component to a song, especially prog lyrics becuase their not all about "boy meets girl" they are deep.
