Some seriously good music here. Can't go past Supper's Ready though.

Yes, that particular section grabbed my attention as well! I even had to replay the whole composition after the first time I heard it just to hear it again. |

That's a suggestion I'm definitely willing to take under consideration...once I hear the composition. To tell you the truth I still haven't heard a single Nektar album but I thank you for reminding me! |

Voted for Supper's Ready. I have never heard In Held Twas in I, but now that I see it in this good company, I'm getting really eager to hear it.

Close to the edge. Although Yes is not my favourite band from this list.

It might sound somewhat dated in comparison to the rest of these prog classics but think of it as the first great Proto-Prog epic and you won't be disappointed. |

One of the first for sure. Another great one from the same time (sometimes dated 1967, more often 1968), overlooked here on PA, is What Love (Suite) by The Collectors. Edited by someone_else - March 25 2010 at 11:41 |

Supper's Ready went a long way towards defining prog, so it get's my vote. Prob CTTE followed by Tarkus next. n

I did not vote cause I don't know all of them.
From the others I feel Tarkus and Nine feet underground are my favorites although CTTE, Supper's ready, TAAB and choes are very good too.
Funny thing is that my personal list would be quite different including pieces like Murglyss III, Jane's Between heaven and hell, Discipline's Before the storm, Can's Halleluwah, Song of Scheherezade just to name a few.

That composition is definitely overlooked by me but I will make sure to seek out this album! |

Thanks for reminding me about Discipline! I remember listening to the sample track I while back, unfortunately I never managed to find out which band it was. Unfolded Like Staircase seems like an album worth seeking out. I also haven't heard Jane's Between Heaven and Hell while Halleluhwah, Murglyss III and Song of Scheherazade simply didn't make it among my top ten favorites. |

Let's just say that I doubt that your love for Pink Floyd's Meddle has that much to do with the first five compositions on that album. |
