I'm not the greatest solo pianist, but right now I'm really enjoying playing Mariah Carey's Vision of Love, ultra lush chord changes for the wannabe lounge lizard.
What about ya'll, what's been on your music stand lately. |

I'm desperately trying to learn Mendelssohn's Rondo a Capriccio.
It's really hard. |

I bet, your probably a better pianist than myself. I hate reading 'notes', I'm so slow. I much prefer chord charts.
I have some classical fake books that put some classics in chord/melody form like a jazz chart, those are fun. It's also interesting to see some complex romantic era chord progression written out where you can see how they did it. |

Yeah, I've never been much of a jazz guy. I can play a chord faster reading it as a cluster of four notes than as a chord symbol. Not that I'm any concert great. I almost never perform (because I hate it) but I try.
![]() I have the weakness of always wanting to play things that are too hard for me. Case in point, the Mendelssohn. Check it out, it's beautiful: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQngHGBI4ak&feature=related |

I'm currently trying to learn and transcribe "Microdeath Softstar," by Phideaux by ear, with plans to continue to the rest of the album when that song's done.

If you accept a virtual music stand, the last transcriptions I studied were of Joe Satriani's Satch Boogie, two weeks ago.

I play classical guitar. I'm now working on these:
- Giuseppe Antonio Brescianello's Partita VIII
- Mauro Giuliani's Allegretto op. 51, n°15
- Béla Bartok's Jatek
The third piece is making me suffer. Very hard to play.

I have Roundabout and Owner of a Lonely Heart on the music stand one is easier than the other on guitar - you can guess.
