Also, DSotM is a great album, I don't know why people bash it so much.
It is a very good album, but I think that Wish You Were Here and Animals are much better (and more progressive.)

Eh, I don't mind it not being very progressive. For some reason I always think of it is some kind of proto-crossover prog.

Wish You Were Here is semi-prog to me.  "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" isn't that prog at all.
What is it, then?  I will give you that it isn't very complex (Floyd never really was,) but I definitely would consider it Prog.

Like an 8 minute guitar solo, followed by a pop song (that's the first part anyway).  That's basically Dire Straits.  LOL

An 8-minute guitar solo can be progressive.  It's not playing the same thing the whole time.

No, I know what you meant.

I didn't always use the sock avatar. I started that summer of 2008.

How about Henry Cow? Tongue

Or if you're feeling metal, then Meshuggah.

Of course, but "jamming" really isn't prog, which is why the Grateful Dead aren't here (yet).

Well, I will say that the last 4 minutes of "Living in the Heart of the Beast" is pretty much the best thing they ever did.
