The one that eschews the blues scale whenever possible.

Easiest poll ever. Fripp blows Page out of the water.
I never did like Led Zeppelin. |

I went to "Robert Fripp" as a result. However, I always like "Outrider" of Jimmy Page.

well I happen to know Page hates llamas, so there Fripp is far more accomplished technically, and much more diverse and consistent easy, James Patrick Page |

Fripp by a zillion miles. Page is good but IMHO the weakest of the big three (with Clapton and Beck). So there is little contest as Robert can play like Jim but can Jimmy ever hope to play like Bob?

oooh I don't know about that-- the fact that Fripp can play blues, along with every other guitar player in the world with a few years (or less) of experience, doesn't mean he can play like Page by a long shot. Let's give credit where it's due please: Page is a Blues master, his tattered slop just part of the magic, and he and Plant wouldn't have it any other way. Is Rembrandt a 'better' painter than Van Gogh? Is gourmet dining 'better' than southern barbecue? |

To me Fripp is more adept at his instrument and I do prefer his playing to the blues styles of Page. |

Having seen both live , in my opinion , I believe that Fripp is extremely diversified and constantly invigorating while Page is just a legend (though no where near Clapton or the phenomenal Beck) that has been living off his early 70s fame. His tattered slop is exactly part of his magic but it's been a while since.........Both are weirdos though..... Edited by tszirmay - March 17 2010 at 01:23 |

That 's because polls have no points (good thing I didn't typo POLES! Tuzvihar would be not too pleased ) .
Any poll that uses the term BETTER needs to be edited to FAVORITE , like that we can have points! Edited by tszirmay - March 17 2010 at 01:54 |

Fripp for me, I find Page's playing spectacularly uninteresting.

Not to be a band-wagon man, but I have to say this is a no contest. Fripp is just better all-around. Plus, I've never really liked Zeppelin.

Tonight on the PROGBERt REPORt a NOOB (laugh track) just started another poll to challenge Robert Fripp's "King of Prog" status. Now obviously, this poll will not make it to two "Page"s, that is, unless "Page"aninio steps in and posts a reply. (laugh track) Sorry, Jimmy, I can't help play with your last name. (laugh track) |

Jimmy Page for me! I'm usually against Led Zeppelin in the polls, but when it comes to King Crimson, they beat LZ strongly in this term.

I didn't like the technical aspect of Page's playing. On some live-concerts he plays in wrong keys. Fripp's guitar sound isn't that good, but at least it's original.

I prefer Fripp. I can't really say that he's better than Page just that I like his style more. Plus I don't play the instrument. If it were Fripp vs. Blackmore there would be a problem.
