I keep seeing that one get high marks.  The cover intrigues me, and it's symphonic prog, right?  Maybe I should hunt that one down.

I would agree that the musical core is interplay and rich sound, both trademarks of symphonic prog, but

- the heavy and raw sound combined with mellotrons make me think of Anekdoten (and Anglagard sometimes)
- the speed and quirkiness are avantgarde
- the solos are jazz-rock

... which should normally lead to the conclusion that it's modern Zeuhl, which it almost is, but not really Confused LOL

By the definition Eclectic band. Great stuff.

Whoops, this album is more diverse than I thought. There are also extended passages of mellow symphonic prog, a lot of singing (both female and male), pastoral moments, even a sort of flamenco... I didn't remember these from the first listen.

And I still have about 20 minutes of it listen to LOL

Sorry but that's not happening. Wink

I am tempted to put them over Pittsburgh though, but I probably won't. We'll see.

Sure, but the Sockian dictator hasn't finished his bracket yet.

He'll probably get around to finishing it by tomorrow night at the latest.

The only thing that stopped Oakland University from winning the tournament in 2005 was that they had to play North Carolina in the first round.  North Carolina isn't in the tournament this year, so nothing will stop them now. Big smile

This Fusion album that Dick Heath just reviewed and recommended on the forum is amazing.

I wouldn't have expected the organ sound employed in such a way, in a Nu-Jazz context - and even less as a lead instrument.

LE: this now turns into Psychedelic Metal... wow!

Oh, the band bio speaks for itself: An offshoot project from members of Norwegian groups Shinning and Supersilent that could translate in Mwandishi meeting Keith Emerson.
