Some Pearl Jam and Smashing Pumpkins stuff is grunge, but far more of it is alternative.

Could anyone tell me what's exactly grunge and alternative? I use to think of most grunge bands as alternative rock bands too...

In the end the love you take is equal to the love you made...

All technicalities regarding the exact definition of grunge aside, I choose the Smashing Pumpkins as by far my favorite from this list.

I think Nirvana defines Grunge more than Pearl Jam, but I still like Pearl Jam better just because the media doesn't talk about them all the time.

I love Nirvana. Pearl Jam and Soundgarden are a close second though.

And LOL at Hole. Silly Courtney Love.

Wait, I just saw SP on there. They are the only band to have more songs on my iTunes than the Beatles. GO SMASHING PUMPKINS! Can't wait for the rest of Teargarden to be released (though it may take a very long time at the rate Billy's releasing it).

I just checked out Screaming Trees, and they're very decent. There's just nothing there that can compete with even middle of the road Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, or Nirvana in terms of variance and memorability.

Just voted twice for AiC and once for Mother Love Bone Tongue
Someone already voted 40 times for Soundgarden so they didn't need more votes. They kill too though!
