After the stunning 'cha cha with Tito Puente at Crossinger's, I am now listening to this album, not as good as Soro or Folon :
[/QUOTE] I have been very curious.Folon is still my favourite last one he did. I have bought everyone since but Papa, M'Bemba and Moffou were okay but not like his earlier solo stuff and I really am a bit iffy with getting this one.

oh, and I edited my original post...you shouldn't read "not as good as" but "just as good as Soro or Folon, but more on the "melodic side" somewhat reminiscent of the AfroCelt Sound System without the dub/electro thing:"

Lucas, now that you mention AfroCelt Sound System, I have heard a lot of good things about them, and seen some of their albums in secondhand CD stores in our area. Which album would you recommend for starters?

I have 'vol 1 sound magic' which sounds pretty good to my ears, but you have to like your traditional music mixed with dub/electro programmations. Overall the mix works, dub programmations are not "invasive" and let enough space to traditional instruments to express themselves. Also worth mentioning 'vol 3 further in time' (I only have it as mp3), also very strong and with one track sung by Robert Plant, and another one by Peter Gabriel.

interesting cover...
I'd be curious on your take on these guys. I almost suspect that you would prefer to listen to Dream Theater than these guys, but then his voice is more angry than LaBrie's, so you might like it more.

Have not played this one for a while. This is when Kante Manfila (Main Guitarist) was with him. First up Mandjou (Original version) also there is an earlier version of Primpin The band was Les Ambassadeurs.
Mandjou is 12 minutes in length and is a praise song to President Hamed Sekou Toure of Guinea and so he should be praised because it was his goverment who instructed the musicians to stop playing other peoples crap and to play Guinean music. He financed the early bands and supported them all the way. Without him there would have been no Golden Age of Guinean music No Bembeya Jazz ,to horrible to contemplate Salif though comes from Mali
