I've managed to collect about 1000 cds and 400 vinyls, I planned to review them all at one time, but now I don't really care - it liberates me to listen to whatever I want, whenever I want. I still buy albums at an alarming pace, although now it's not just for the thought of expressing my opinion on them.

People who say that someone with 500 reviews can't be buying them legit is crazy. When you get out of highschool and have a decent job you tend to spend a lot of money on things you like

In Australia, cds are insanely expensive compared to europe and the U.S.

Worse still, it's practically impossible to find good prog here anyway. So for most albums I buy, I end up paying for international shipping!

Yeah, I'm in Australia too, and most of my prog stuff is very hard to find. I usually have to hunt around in various JB Hi Fi stores across the Melbourne suburbs to find what I'm looking for. And when you do, its always special import stuff. I end up paying a ton for it. It's expensive being a prog completist! Embarrassed

As of today, I have about 300 CDs, all legit. Hopefully, that number will increase even further this year! Tongue

If i reviewed all my albums I wouldn't have time for eating, sleeping, crapping or breathing. I just review albums that I happen to listen to and have a bit of time to kill. I think it would be difficult to do this sort of thing professionally. Listening to a record for the sole intention of critcizing it. Doesn't make any sense to me. It's funny before this site I had never really payed attention to reviews. I only knew that Rolling Stone hated most of the music I listened to so I never bothered secure in the knowledge that bands like Focus, Gentle Giant and King Crimson were where it was at.

Yeah the first year I started working I purchased maybe 15 - 20 albums a week ( most second hand LPs but also CDs). No obligations whatsoever and I lived with my parents so I had more money and time to spend them than I will probably ever have again. My purchase rate has gone down a bit in the last 5 years after I had my children but most people would probably still consider my habits to be somewhat compulsive.LOL. I´ve lost count of how many albums I have, but it´s gotten to a point where I´ve had to pack a lot of CDs away in my basement. There simply aren´t room for more in our small apartment. The wife is going crazyWacko.

When I grow up I want to be like you... I'm living with my parents and I just buy 2 albums per month... but surely I want to make my wife crazy for the amount of Cds in the house... surely...!!!
Change the program inside... Stay in silence is a crime.

Actually, I'm having a bit of a writers block right now so I have some time for the forum Smile
The reason I write so much is because I'm a very focussed kind of guy and I want it over and done with!
From May onwards I'll probably won't be writing anything anymore till next fall.

I am one of those lucky guys who works from home, meaning I stop working around 17u, and then write 3-4 reviews and do the cooking, all before my wife gets home around 19u!  Besides I only work 4/5 now.

Considering the album ownership matter. I've been buying albums for 25 years now (around 30 up to 80 titles a year), there's also plenty of good libraries here in Belgium (ask Sean Trane) and I have plenty of the 70's stuff from my brother. I don't shy away to listening to new music using the possibilities of the internet but I want to own everything I like eventually.
'Owning' albums without paying the artist is highly unethical in my view.

Hehe, I suppose I wrote all of them in one day, that's me. Have to finish what I started, right ? We can compare then.
There's a point where "avant-garde" and "experimental" becomes "terrible" and "pointless,"

Well, you posted the most reviews (6) in a single day! I only managed 2 reviews for the whole week.

I started the list from 11.30 EST on Monday, and finished at midnight on Sunday. A total of 196 reviews by 77 different members - 34 collabs and 43 ordinary members.

Yes Raff, same to me, during 2 years and a half i have a sort of writer's block, then when i have resolved that, now i have enough time to do my daily activities.
