Without a doubt Pure Reason Revolution.

I was tempted by the mixed reviews of their second album and found that it's one of the most enjoyable listens I've had for a long time. The critisisms of this albums make me think that quite a number of people seem to be stick-in-the-muds. You can shake your booty to quite a lot of this stuff, and serious minded proggers don't like that.

Additionally, I really can't recall anything sounding quite like it, so in my interpretation of the word, this album is prog.

Then I got their first album as well, but, although very good, I like the second one much better.

Kudos on flying in the face of Progity with such conviction Big smile

GOSTA BERLINGS SAGA

My discovery for sure with their latest cd. It's was the firs time i have heard this band. It takes me back to one my favorites band, Anglagard.

No doubts

5BRIDGES - The Thomas Tracks: Great band and better album.

The King by Life Line Project neither Whispers & Screams by Shadow Circus are discoveries, because I already knew how great both bands are.

le Dimanche: Colour Of Shade (Netherlands).
A nice musical project with the bassist of The Gathering.
Style: trip-hop/post-rock/progressive.

I agree El, Kate Bush is awesome. There is a live performance from London available. Consult IMDB for more details.

Still too early in the game for this years discoveries, but since this post was started in awhile ago, I'll share who I got excited about last year:  Oceansize, Orphan Project, and Katatonia.  Bands not recently discovered but recently cemented my view that they indeed have a bright future: Diminishtry and Sketching in Stereo (new album soon to come and with a distictive prog twist) both very talented groups!

You know I'm sharing the same air you're breathing...

They have only released two 7" so far and the third will be out very soon. All their (5) songs can be heard at Myspace

good to see a shout for PROTEST THE HERO but AWESOME to see aknowledgment of CYNIC - Focus is an incredibly moving and innovative album from 93 and a compelling experience to discover years later but Traced In Air is such a piece of art.  Sweeping, gripping, dreamy and finite.....

Also great discovery to be added KARNIVOOL, these guys know how to write and move rhythm and groove.

SPYLACOPA need to get a mention too, members of Dillinger and Made Out of Babies this is such a tug of war between retro and advanced hardcore, post-rock and prog metal leanings.

ALOHA are back this month with Home Acres (it's not obviously prog but listen, persue their catalogue and you'll here the experimentation)......and the lead sings likes Gentle Giant so he must "know" ;)

First comment in ages, couple years maybe, nice to be back friends and foes :P
