Ivan, when you said (paraphrasing, I can't go back to find your text and quote) "Symphony X and Pain of Salvation are prog-metal, but I'm not 100% sure about DT" I realized this discussion is worthless. The former wouldn't have even existed (probably) without the latter... And, besides, you reveal that your knowledge of metal is quite poor (which is understandable if you don't like it... I don't know jack sh*t about RIO for example)... There's no point in talking to you about this. You, the King of All Logic in PA, fail to see how ridiculous is to say prog-metal bands are prog-metal but DT may be not...

T, I find a lot of Symphonic elements in Symphony X and Pain of Salvation, and Prog elements in Opeth (hate the growls though), but I do't find any structure in DT, for me is a band that priorizes soloing over structure, that's what I listen and won't change.

Now, I like Metal, I been listening Metal bands when you were in your craddle,, in the university my closer friends were the Metalheads (the radical ones), because nobody listened Prog and at least metalheads and me ahad mutual respect, so despite not being an expert, I don't believe my knowledge is as poor as you believe.

Many people here shout that Prog Metal is not Prog or that no way DT is Prog, and you say nothing, I said I believe probably DT is Prog, but not 100% sure...Is that a sin?

Hundreds of persons say Pink Floyd is not Prog, others say that ELP is arrogant and self indulgent, even been labeled as the  second worst band in history, and we say nothing, but you take it as a sin (te rasgas las vestiduras) if somebody dares to mention DT without praising them...Learn to admit other people's opinions.

BTW: My central point is that DT is not a legend, at least here we agree, you said it in a previous post.

On topic, I think we should wait 20 more years and see if DT are legends or not. Many of you (including I, everything is possible) might be dead by then, but at least a few will be alive and finally be able to see if this "Is DT a prog legend" idea was true... And they'll be in peace and feel completely fulfilled as persons, as, whatever the outcome is, they will have demonstrated that they knew more than a group of unknown people in a music forum on the web!!!!

Como se dice en mi idioma, que gran pajazo.

Only time will, tell, maybe in 20 years nobody remembers DT (I'll be there,, older, with 65 years, but I'll be there to watch this). you can't guess what will happen, and if they are legends by then...Great, but the question is if they are Prog legends today....I still believe not.

Bob, I can assure you no one was using Spanish to insult anyone else... That had been done in English quite effectivelyLOL!

To answer Jampa's question, I know DT are VERY popular in Italy, even with people in their forties and older. When my Facebook account was still active, I was in touch with a guy from Naples who was my same age, and crazy about them (as were some of his friends). Personally, as I have said before, I don't like them, but this has nothing to do with their being metal - as a matter of fact, I love a lot of classic metal, and in the Eighties I was much more into metal than prog. Anyway, I'm interested about one small detail here... Ivan, could you expand a bit on the reasons why you are not sure DT are prog?

As I said, I don't find any structure at all, for me is like a contest between 4 very talented musicians wanting to play the most complex solo.

That's opposite of Prog to me.

But musicians like  Ruddess and Portnoy have proved been excellent Prog musicians.

Well, neither do I Cry. I have to travel between 550 and 900 kilometers to see any gig from any international band. But still I don't need to leave my country.

Isn't any Mexico city near enough so u can go see Legendary Theater?

1500 kilometers to Mexico DF... and is very expensive... like 500 dollars... so I can't do it... I have too much to pay (inlcuding the recording of my bands first album) so... I wish... but I can't... Cry
