Raff, is there any post-'tyranny and mutation' album really WORTH listening to. In fact, the album with the dinosaur I remember having checked out a while ago sounded very uninteresting to my ears and the second album is already weaker than the first one IMHO.

A whole list of them, but then again, if you think T&M is weaker than their debut, you might not be too impressed by any of them. In fact, Secret Treaties is the strongest of the 'black and white' trilogy. Then I would recommend Cultosaurus Erectus (which you said you didn't like) and Fire of Unknown Origin (my avatar), both produced by Martin Birch, and this Imaginos. I like most of the others too, but they might be too 'radio-friendly' for your tastes.
OK, Raff, thanks for the recommendations. As I mentioned previously, it's been a while sinceI listened to the dinosaur album, and as you may know tastes change through years. I like some "radio-friendly" music, so maybe my opinion on post-T&M BÖC albums may change.

This guy is in PA through his collboration with Colosseum. But his solo career is very interesting.

Different, I'd say. You could try reading my review or Micky's, to get an idea of what to expect. It's a great album indeed, but there are a couple of 'easier' songs that might put off some people.

I consider them equals (although if I had to choose one, I think it would be The Crane Wife).

The Crane Wife has "The Island" though, which I know you will like, Jeff- symphonic prog in The Decemberists' style.  Thumbs Up

Like Raff said, it's different. A bit more alt. rock sounding overall, but still with very strong material specially the 12 minute The Island and the 11 minute The Crane Wife 1 & 2.

The best rock version is the one by Mekong Delta. Too much weirdness and psychedelia in the ELP version.

But no rock version can beat the original version though...
