I hate the Olympics. There was a better description of the Olympic Committees Nazi tendencies by an ex-Olympic athlete, but I saw it a long time ago so I can't find it now.

Sports only exist so their sponsors can advertise anyway.

anyways, from what I've seen it mostly ego stroking, my brother seems to get more enjoyment out of other people (angrily) acknowledging him killing them.

I don't really "get" most shooters, the appeal of CoD is pretty much nonexistent to me.

Basically, the IOC requires all the athletes to sign a waiver saying they won't say anything negative about the Olympics, the IOC, or any of their sponsers. But it also really upsets me that because of the IOC's absurd requirements, hosting the Olympics is a financial black hole. I hope the US never hosts the Olympics again, and I wish NBC could get back some of the damn 820 million dollars they paid for broadcasting rights.

Alex, I was not really a fan of Ask the Machine. You started off nice, except for the pitch bend on the organ, but then with the annoying repetition of Raindance it went downhill...

Sorry to hear you didn't like it, though I wasn't sure how you'd take to it anyway.

I suppose Operation is the least repetitive piece on there, so that makes sense.

Henry isn't a fan of Ask the Machine, or a fan of the Olympics, or a fan of Close to the Edge, or a fan of personal hygiene (so I hear).

He probably hates babies too.

Ulver was disappointing. They were late because of the weather and arrived only two hours before the show started one hour late. They probably had no time for a soundcheck, so the sound was awful. There were a couple moments when the music made up for the sound, but couldn't save much. They only played 70 minutes because they had to leave the concert hall as it was rented only up to 10:30 PM. They should have skipped over the opening act, but I understand the guy (who did a solo dark-metal/ambient vocal set) was some sort of a celebrity (as a former vocalist of Mayhem if I'm not wrong). He was awful.
Coming back to the sound, I also think the concert hall was badly chosen. La Cigalle is a 19th/early 20th century theatre, not suited to loud music. Maybe they could have compensate the bad acoustics of the room with a proper sound check but it wasn't the case.
Also, the visuals were pretty lame.
I've heard their post-1998 albums at least once but I can't place any of the pieces they played. What I can say is that though the last two albums were pretty ambient, the pieces sounded very metal.
It could have been a very good concert, but I guess it wasn't to be. Ouch

Words of wisdom.

The Shred posters should have their own ranking just like Prog Reviewer / Collaborator / Special Collaborator, something such as Newbie Shredder, Senior Shredder, Heavy Shredder. LOL
