So essentially what you're saying is that people who aren't fans of one particular album, even if they've tried it several times and still don't enjoy it, aren't prog fans, and furthermore aren't allowed to post their opinions on it (within certain bounds, at least)?

Technically,  saying there is greatness is equal in truth to one saying there isn't greatness. There is no truth in expressing either.

Well, let me use myself as an example.  I don't like Dream Theater.  I've tried listening to more than one of their albums, none of which did much for me.  I do like Liquid Tension Experiment, Rush, Yes, King Crimson, Kansas, Genesis, Pink Floyd, etc.  Yes, I also like the chamber rock and jazz, along with at least a little bit of everything from most of the genres.  Most of us who enjoy the stranger side of music don't show up in every thread to bash bands we don't like.  It's disrespectful to the bands and to other members' opinions, just as is stereotyping all the fans of the stranger stuff as jerks who don't consider other people's opinions worthy.
