It definitely was a great show! The guys at 3RP really got some excellent act together. The highlight for me must have been the Transatlantic reunion. Stranger in Your Soul absolutely rocked! Big smile

What'd you think of the California Guitar Trio? I thought they were really cool, though I've never heard any of their albums.

It might be my single favorite Spock's Beard song (not counting Snow). I think I'm going to change my rating (and rewrite my review) of The Light to a 5 star rating. Big smile

It deserves a five even if it was stupid to put home demos on the end that add nothing to the album.Big smile

Dude, the home demos are just bonus tracks on the special edition. I don't often listen to them either, but the original (non-remastered) album is just the first 4 songs.

The Light is an excellent debut track the first on the first so to speak !!!
My Aryreon stint is more fruitful than I thought - The Universal Migrator - Part one the Dream Sequencer - Definately one for Roj who loves sequenced synth riffs and the electronica is backed up with solid guitar work and good vocals. Also quite a bit of Floyd influence in this CD - another plus point for Roj i'm sure.
The second part (a separate CD) will get a listen - I think this one will be heavier......

Hey guys,

Sorry I've been a bit on the absent side, no internet (at home) since Friday, we got 18 inches (46 cm) of snow.

I'll be quick,

Seeing "The Light" played by Neal Morse and Spock's Beard has to be one of the highlights of my concert going career.  I will say this, it had been tied with "The End of the Day" for my favorite Beard song, though seeing it live pushed it into the top spot.

Regarding the California Guitar Trio, I was impressed with their musical ability but I thought their timing was poor.  I think they would have been a much better second or third band of the day.  The Rocket Scientists had a certain amount of energy then the California Guitar Trio sapped much of the energy in my opinion.  I just would have put a more upbeat band in that time slot.  The music was great.

18 Inches - Hey that would have even covered my knob !!!! Thankfully it looks like Manchester , England will not be getting any more snow - we get an inch and the whole city grid-locks !!! Just listened to Flight of the Navigator and it's the best Ayreon CD by far - It's Prog Metal at it's very best - I absolutely love the last track - it's awesome - I'll have to buy the whole lot now I'm hooked

^ Well Barney, you've inspired me.  I'm headed on a trip for a few days and the last CD on the iPod will be "The Universal Migrator" based on your recommendation.  It's one of those CD's I've had for a few years and just never listened to.  I'm thinking it will be perfect for an airplane ride.

I was going to mention this yesterday but didn't get the chance.

I saw all the snow in DC Shocked and thought of you and the other guys.  We've had a pretty bad winter and our snow hung around for a month, but 18 inches!!!  Hope you manage to get your flight out.  And by the way, where are you off to?  Anywhere nice, or just business?

Hmmm, you're right, this does sound interesting.  Sounds just my cup of tea.  Thanks for the tip Rob Thumbs Up and that's another to go on the list with K2.

Only problem is I have such a glut of new cds to digest at the moment.  I'm going to have to restrain myself for a month or two, no more new cds for a while.  When I'm next on a buying spree, I reckon I'll be after:-

1.  K2 - Book Of The Dead
2.  More Kaipa!
3.  Definitely some Ayreon

Eh, I think we'd have been ok if we only had one storm, the problem is that there's a second one fresh on the heels of the first.  Currently we're expecting another 6 - 10 inches starting today.  This may be the tipping point.

I've sent the wife and daughter off to her mother's while I'm out and I'll cross my fingers in the hopes that I don't spend tomorrow sitting in an airport.

Oh, and Nashville for a sales convention is the answer, business.

Come now Tom, when I lived in Pittsburgh we got more than two feet in one shot!  And I drove around in it Big smile  Of course, that was before a state of emergency was called and the shut down all the roads.

But yeah, we got 14 inches, with another 10-14 on the way between now and tomorrow afternoon.  Hope I don't fall into a snow bank and freeze to death on my walk to work Wink

You Brits should realize that, having grown up here in central Pennsylvania, snow is not really something I worry about much at all.  It's just the way it is here.  However, I will say that a "normal" winter usually doesn't involve more than a 12 inches of snow at a time, so these two storms are certainly big ones.  But I've been though bigger, with no ill effects.

Actually, it was much worse back in October when we got 6 inches and the leaves were still on the trees, causing limbs to fall, houses to be damaged, and power lines to come down.  Some areas were without power for several days.  No such problems with these latest storms.

The city averaged 22 or something like that.  It was apparently the fourth largest snowfall in Pittsburgh in recorded history.  Plus another plastering today . . . yay
