Not being as much of a drum aficionado as perhaps I should, this was a challenge for me. The first five were easy, the last five required some digging.

Michael Giles
Neil Peart
Bill Bruford
Roger Taylor
Bobby Caldwell
Jaki Liebezeit
Drumbo (John French)
Car Palmer
Klaus Schulze
Max Weinberg

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Cozy Powell, yet.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Tony Williams yet.  I'd also like mention Lenny White and Billy Hart.

You're right, Tony Williams is a great drummer indeed, and Lenny White is one of my favourite, his drumming on the RTF albums is simply perfect!!!

Funny I flipped a coin between Powell and Panozzo.....thought it was appropriate since both are gone due to alcohol.

I haven't heard much from Tony, but from Lenny I can only repeat what Friede said about him, he's techincally great but his style(and sound, always found his drum sound insipid) never did much for me.

I'm not as big on Lenny White's drumming as the others I mentioned.  That said, I love White's album Venusian Summer.

Alphonse Mouzon is one really worth mentioning I think.

4..Mani Neumeier (Guru Guru, Tiere der Nacht, Acid Mothers Guru Guru, Lover 303, lots of other projects)
5. Bill Bruford (Yes, King Crimsion, UK, Earthworks, Bruford, many other projects)
6. Perre Moerlen (Gong, Tribute, Mike Oldfield, Brand X)
7. Werner Diermeier (Faust)
8. Tatsuya Yoshida (Koenjihyakkei, Ruins, Manitatsu, etc.)
9. Chris Cutler (Henry Cow)
10. Pip Pyle (Hatfield and the North, National Health, Soft Heap, many other projects)

The first three are more or less fixed; the rest are constantly changing.

Modified Friede's list, but she had quite a lot of good drummers on here already.

I can't make a better list than this.

No mention of Haake? Kollias? Hoglan? Carl-Michael (back when he could walk)? A bit more obscure, but Tomás Corn?

I'm partial to metal drummers.

Joe Morello
Pip Pyle
Bill Bruford (I listen to KC, not really any Yes)
Carl Palmer
Guy Evans
John Weathers
John Densmore (always like his style a lot)
Nick Mason
Michael Giles
Mitch Mitchell

I also like a lot of Zappa's drummers, but don't really know who they are...
