We love our car. It's a lovely looking hatchback blessed with German engineering (diesel), good ergonomic interior (a lot of space) and a great price (probably the best quality/price ratio in its category). We love her so much that we take it everywhere.

Here's me, seen through its side mirror, taking pictures of a Transylvanian fortress up on a hill:

5 minutes before the previous pic, in strong sunlight:

Transylvanian winter; now I am in a fortress up on a hill:

Same day, same place:

I love that sexy bottom! Embarrassed

Enjoying a Wallachian sight:

Climbing a small mountain for a recluse monastery of an ancient Wallachian king:

Enjoying the last rays of a falling sun over a Wallachian lake / taking refuge under a mountain:

In the parking, at the entrance in the Barbizon Forest; I loved the complementary contrast of green and red.

A beautiful morning in Normandy:

The best thing about our car, though, is its driver

Heart

So, can anyone guess what car it is? Wink

NoAlex, Skoda's are very common in the UK - even our police use them:

...oh and around were I live, they use them as unmarked police cars.

They've certainly come a long way from the days when they were a standing joke - e.g.:

Why does a Lada have a heated rear screen?

To keep your hands warm when you're pushing it.

etc

That show with Ceausescu's mountain road was shot only 100 km from where I was in those pictures. Smile

Good one LOL

BTW in Greece I was surprised to see that most young people drove some sort of Lada off-road model, which seems to be very popular there. I vaguely remember hearing it's a good car, but I'm not sure.

It could be worse - you could be driving a Toyota.

At 70mph, then you take your foot off the accelerator and you're still doing 70mph.

oops.

Dean, I thought I saw you this morning in the bus - we both went to the railway station and took the train to Paris. Shocked

You should have said something - I wander around in a world of my own most of the time and haven't got a clue where I am - I've often walked past people I've known for years without even seeing them, then a few weeks later they berate me for ignoring them.

I used to be the same when I lived in Italy, and people told me much the same. Now, thankfully, I don't know anyone where I live, so I can't walk past anyone I know without seeing themWink.

On a different note, it's been snowing since about 10 this morning. For the time being it is quite mild, but the real blizzard is expected for later tonight. Obviously, tomorrow we were due to see Yes at the Warner Theater in downtown DCAngry.... I'm afraid the band will find it very difficult to drive down from Pennsylvania after tonight's gig. A foot or more of snow is expected for tomorrow.

I work in a College where many of the countless students that pass through year to year remember me when i see them but as they are a little older and  most have settled into a good job or Uni and have "grown up" i fail to recognise them!   Often they call out to me and i have to think...remember the face, wrong place situation.

One day i was in the City walking along the Strand when a person with a clipboard approached me, i blanked them thinking it was one of those surveys we avoid...but after i passed she called my name (we are on first name terms at our College)  i turned round and realised she was an ex-student from a few years before!  Embarrassed

I didn't act because the person ("you") was completely Dean-like expect for one major thing: his clothes (exactly what you'd wear: hat, scarf, winter coat, jeans and boots) were not dark-coloured, but were ochre or light earth-tones. That's pretty revelatory: it was a fake.
