Both of those are amazing albums. I don't think I could pick one over the other, although I might go with TMR if I was at gunpoint.

Amon Duul II's Yeti is my all-time least favorite album.  I actually have Future Days, Out of Reach, and Can plus the two CD Can Anthology.  They never really did much for me until I listened to them again a couple of months ago.  There were a couple of songs that I found to be quite awful, but the rest was actually pretty good.  Sometimes for me, a couple of awful songs can ruin a whole album or band for me. 
I borrowed Captain Beefheart's TMR from the library, but I never really had the overwhelming desire to try it yet.  It did mysteriously find itself on my hard drive waiting to be heard to see if it is worth getting an actual copy or not.   It kind of "scares" me to be honest.

Tago Mago is pretty different from Yeti IMO, and if you enjoyed the majority of Future Days you'd probably like at least a majority of the songs on Tago Mago.  The only songs I feel like you might not be a fan of are Aumgn and Peking O.  I think you're in for a treat with Captain Beefheart, too, whether it be a good treat or a bad treat is up to you. It is sort of like Gong for me.  I've only heard Angel's Egg, but it really didn't do anything for me so I've not been really interested in pursuing them further.  I don't know if you saw the blog about Gong, but that really made them kind of interesting to me, but after reading the blog, I still didn't really care for Angel's Egg.  I'm sure that there is some good music there but until Angel's Egg clicks with me, I probably won't be exploring them too much further.

Those are probably their two best from a prog fan perspective.  Those and Powerslave are probably my favorite.  I love their story telling ability.  Powerslave is awesome for that.  Their version of Rime of the Ancient Mariner is pretty awesome.  A song that I really like from them is Murders in the Rue Morgue from their Killers album, which is based on the Edgar Allen Poe story.  http://www.youtube.com/watchv=Holvzlk4LrQ

It was kind of everything.  I didn't have a problem with any part of the band, but they also didn't manage to grab me at all.

So should I order the ZAAR CD?

Well... I'm checking again Animals and still is good... I don't have problem with not so intense bands (aka pre-Dream Theater) but sometimes I need a shaker to help me not to fall asleep... and this album is quite good... it has the vibe... really...!!
Change the program inside... Stay in silence is a crime.
