Well  is Barbaro is old news ?
 I guess...

lets see

Eskaton  - 4 Visions  - Audio restoration from the original master tapes and mastering + about 25 min of bonus tracks  - I am extremly happy with the result which shows a significant improvment over the previous edition

Xing Sa -
Creaton de l'Univers  - an offshoot of Setna but less mellow and more raw

Soft Machine - Live In Hamburg 1973 cd/ dvd - after some searching and digging the original stereo radio broadcast tapes were unearthed and miraculously synced up with the video   - the visuals are nothing short of stunning and now boast a nice stereo sound -wooopeee !

Dave Willey & Friends - Currently mixing this album with guests like Deborah Perry Elaine Di Falco Mike Johnson Dave Kerman and Hugh Hopper - no label yet and we hope to find a friendly home to this album

so that's all folks Wink

Barbaro may be old news but it's also exceedingly good news - and those other projects sound very tasty as well. keep us posted, Udi!

Nice! Well, I guess I'll have to buy a new copy of the Eskaton...:) Who's releasing it?

I listened to the Xing Sa samples - its really good! Will it be out soon [I hope!]?

And both the Soft Mach. &
Dave Willey & Friends sound really good too! Good luck finding a label [I know you would find a few buyers from here for a disc w/ those musicians!]

Avant music is the prog i most like, but i think it doesn' t belong to progressive, is a autonomous genre.

"Avant-garde" and "Avant-Prog" are two very different things. John Cage, eg, is avant g. - he would not be here.

This thread is primarily for music that is here, which always has a significant rock influence. We just sometimes get distracted. ;-)

Maybe I'll get the remaster of Etsakon, I never got around to them before.

I have an album of theirs (probably their only one so far) and I've heard of the musicians before, which is why I was curious to hear it as well. I think more people here will like this album. Definitely try out the Myspace Udi gave.

Long compositions, complex time signatures and arrangements, rock instrumentation augmented by unusual instruments, mixture of composed and improvised elements, esoteric lyrics...

I don't wish to get too involved with the debate of what is and isn't prog (if posting on this forum for five years has taught me anything, it's that that's a futile debate to have), but by a lot of people's standards at least some of those elements are integral to prog. PA was not the first to describe Henry Cow as a prog band (not by a long shot!), and it certainly won't be the last. HTH.

I don't know if this is of interest for other people than me but, I sent a message to Cuneiform to ask if they planned to reissue the Miriodor albums Rencontres, Miriodor and Third Warning. I personally really love this band and have all their albums except these. I would have liked to have a physical copy of them but they answered and said there's not enough interest for making another 500 copies of those albums. Disapprove

News from Nicolas Masino (Miriodor's bassist) himself

The Québécois progressive/avant-garde label will probably reissue the Miriodor albums, even Rencontres, Miriodor and 3rd Warning, which have all been discontinuated for a long time (several years)

Also, is anybody familiar with the works of Ze Bigue Band du Plato?
