I've seen that. LOL

Not sure what I made of it, really.  Sutherland playing an uncouth character was interesting though.

Legion- I saw this atrocity last night at the theater.  for free- thank goodness.  the previews were all lies!  lies I tell you!  This long Christian propaganda film is basically an inversion of your typical satan child horror movie- (takes place during Christmas, with an unborn savior child- hello, second coming of jesus?) but with tons more guns and explosions.  The Archangels Michael and Gabriel make an appearance, as do a whole "legion" of angels.  There was a blatant pro-life scene that was shoved into my ears and eyes.  I rarely talk out loud at movies, but that one prompted a "f**k you."  There was also a scene which hinted at the righteousness of killing abortion doctors- it was thinly veiled, but the metaphor was there for sure.  Also, some of the dudes who were "possessed" by angels were "alternative and punk rock/metal guys" as if those were the most susceptible to possession, due to their possible lack of moral fiber.  This movie should have been subtitled;  "Legion- Terrorists From Heaven".  Unless you want to see a film that suddenly makes the bible hip by adding guns and terrible, predictable lines and plot devices, avoid at all costs.  The poster is hilarious- it features a strapping, armored angel brandishing a knife and an automatic weapon... ha!  terrorists from heaven!

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind--I had to skip over some parts, it was too quirky and romantic for me. I don't want to see other people happy! That's depressing! It was a good concept, but by the nature of it they had to pad out most of the movie with LOL DECAYING MEMORIES, and that got boring so I skipped a fair chunk of those.

^ great one

re-watched The Insider --  as good as I remember, Pacino sympathetic and Chris Plummer's perfectly crusty portrayal of Mike Wallace.

^That's Michael Mann's best movie, a great director whose latest, Public Enemies, disappoints heavily. The Insider is one of the best movies of the last decade, and it's one of Russel Crowe's finest hour.

Based on the novel by Ken Follet. Follows the story quite remarkably.

Lars Von Trier's Dogville is still excellent. Manderlay is not as good.
Taxi Driver is also great.

My favourite Michael Mann's are Manhunter, Last Of The Mohicans and Heat (in that order). Still Public Enemies has many fans; I'm curious about it.

I've just seen Almodovar's latest and I was underwhelmed. I'll give it a 6 ("good") because it's an Almodovar and also because we get to see Penelope Cruz' wonderful breasts. Embarrassed

The other thing about Eternal Sunshine is that it's all well and good to be all "it's better to have loved and lost than never loved at all" on a romance that will end in failure when you're young, but Jim Carey is forty-something at this point, he doesn't have 3 years left to piss away on a crazy girl who will give him some good times.

Lame plot and 3D makes things look like cardboard.

Dancer in the Dark 9/10

The saddest movie I've ever seen! Björk's performance was stunning.

Sommaren med Monika 7/10

Pretty good and definitely makes me want to see more Ingmar Bergman.

Reasonably effective horror yarn with John Cusack as a writer compelled to stay overnight in a hotel room where countless people have died.  Cusack shines as the cynical author.  Based on a Stephen King story.

hey Jesse!

Book of Eli - Great cinematography, score and quite a decent story, though I didn't quite like the religious overtones.
