Oh wait, here's something Flower King related, I spent a little of my Birthday money last night.  "Entering the Spectra" is the only Karmakanic CD that I don't have . . . until now.  It's on it's way.

Despite a total glut of new cds from Christmas (and my Birthday in Oct Shocked) still to fully digest, I can't keep away from buying new cds, with Christmas money of course LOL.

I've just taken delivery of Entering The Spectra Tongue too (great minds think alike Tom Thumbs Up) along with Kaipa's Notes From The Past and...., ahem, Feel Euphoria by SB.  Yes, I know, Feel Euphoria doesn't get the best reviews and may be pants Ouch (we'll see) but at £4.50 you just can't say no can you Tongue?

^ I like "Feel Euphoria" personally, I think it's actually my favorite of the NDV era.  I truly enjoy the Sid suite.  Also, I'm really eager for Entering the Spectra.  The two other Karmakanic CD's are both fantastic, I'm crossing my fingers for the hat trick.

That's good to hear.  I've liked every album I've heard by the Beard so see no reason why I won't like it.  I saw the reviews and was expecting the worst......but it didn't stop me buying LOL.

Yes, I've got both.

I really like 3WE but cannot get to grips with Weaveworld at all.

OK, I'm interested to know everyone's favourite track from all the TFK albums, to see if there's much in common.  Here's mine:-

World Of Adventures - Theme For A Hero
Retropolis - Retropolis
Stardust We Are - Stardust We Are
Flower Power - Garden Of Dreams
Space Revolver - I Am The Sun
Rainmaker - Sword Of God
Unfold The Future - Silent Inferno
Adam & Eve - Driver's Seat
Paradox Hotel - Monsters and Men
Sum Of No Evil - One More Time

and, for completeness:-

The Flower King - Dissonata

Right, who's going next?

^ actually, you don't have either of my two favorite CD's by them.  I'd go "Space Revolver" if you're into the more classic sound or "Paradox Hotel" if you're looking for something a little more rocking.

Amusingly enough, you already have "The Rainmaker" which is generally considered one of their lesser albums.

Kudos for including the Swedish Chef in your sig.

Favorite from each album, ok this will be tough for a few but I'll give it my best:

The Flower King - Humanizzimo
Back in the World of Adventures - Back in the World of Adventures
Retropolis - Flora Majora - My favorite FK instrumental
Stardust We Are - Just this Once, A year ago it would have been the title track.
Flower Power - The Garden of Dreams (I think this is the only one that will run the risk of being unanimous)
Space Revolver - I am the Sun (I would have thought this would have had a chance at being unanimous but I've been proven wrong already)
The Rainmaker - Serious Dreamers (This is actually one of my favorite Flower King's songs)
Unfold the Future - tough call here, I think I'll surprise even myself and go with The Truth Will Set You Free
Adam and Eve - no vote, nothing on this CD has really stuck with me
Paradox Hotel - I'm going with "Minor Giant Steps" based on nostalgia as I've loved it the longest, though "Life Will Kill You" and "End on a High Note" have both really grown on me as of late.
The Sum on No Evil - One More Time, my kid dances when this song comes on, enough said.

I am having a rest from TFK and I am listening to the Ayreon that I bought and never listened to !!! - Anybody else think that The Human Equation is marvellous !!!
Back on Topic, it looks like son no two has fallen in love with "Monsters & Men" as it has been heard on his ipod at least a dozen times in the past few weeks. he has my entire CD collection as MP3 on his new PC - he has a REALLY lot of prog to fall in love with...Still think that DT are his favourite band though !!!!

^  I'm a big fan of "The Human Equation" myself, In particular I love Pain and Looser, just a full on blitz of progressive metal (I think it's classified as metal).  For Ayreon I really like "Into the Electric Castle" as well.

There was a decent interview with him on here a few years back.

http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=47888

I'm proud to say that I got a laugh out of Arjen Lucassen with the question that I submitted.

On a Flower King related note, there are a few Flower King related interviews in that section as well.  I saw a two parter with Roine Stolt and one with Jonas Reingold as well.  I will have to check those interviews out as I missed them when they were initially posted.

The Human Equation is a masterpiece. Definitely the best Ayreon album.  The last one just hasn't done much for me, aside from Gildenlow's vocals and Tomas' keyboard solo (and the track it is on I like in general).

Monsters and Men just doesn't do a lot for me, but it's great your son likes it.  Glad to hear he is starting to enjoy the Kings!

He was into prog-metal to start with, he also didn't like the name "The Flower kings" - to a fifteen year old lad - full of machismo - he's not liking such an effeminate moniker !!! I sort-of agreee - I'd prefer them to be called "The Flour Kings" - because you can make PIES & PANCAKES with FLOUR - Flowers are what you give to your mrs as a catalyst to the process of loosening her knicker elastic !!!Big smile

Well, as someone who has trouble digesting wheat gluten, I'm not a big fan of flour.  (though it doesn't stop me from drinking good beer LOL )

Perhaps what you mention about the use for flowers is what Roine had in mind?  Big smile

Actually, the name I have always found a bit too "nancy boy" as well.  But then, the music makes up for it and then some!
