actually I always thought Jeff Beck and Nigel Tufnel were closer .. Waters looks like troglodyte in that photo

I see where you're going at Marty. I think the most "troglodyte" images of Jeff Beck I've seen are those from the film "Blow Up".

I can when I take a close look at the details on the enlarged pictures: the instrument on the left has two more strings and the strings on the right images are thicker.

I would rather say that their haircuts look the same. But the faces are quite different.

After all, I'm one of the few in my family to be able to spot "who's who" on the photographs of my brothers, who happened to be perfect twins, when they were newly-born babies.
