I'm fairly sure the one I'm referring to is by Satie.  A very beautiful piano piece, I believe.  It could just be one of his Gymnopédies though.

It was used recently in a BBC Science programme.

The Gymnopédies are his most famous, I think.

His three Gymnopédies are really similar, I'd call his first the most famous, though.
