Beer + Philosophy = A friend of mine who aced a final exam in Philosophy

Seriously though, the final exam was one essay question: "What is the meaning of life?". He wrote down "There is no meaning." then left. And he got an A on it.

My philosophy textbook states that pretty clearly in the first chapter.

My mate took a philosophy paper where the final question in the exam was simply "Why?"

He wrote "Why not"

and got B+

LOLWUT

@ James, Anathema is metal, but they are not especially heavy in the 'heavy' sense.

Yeah, the metal on A4 is spread out, but it still sounds more doomy than Floydian to me.

Good stuff though. Smile

Well then the professor was a fool. Tongue

Anathema isn't so much "heavy metal" as they are heavy atmospherically. But that's fine, because I've been listening to a lot more riff/groove-based metal lately.

My Philosophy class has been terribly dull so far. I don't give a sh*t about what the "substance" of an abstract idea is! I understand what it means, explaining it doesn't matter!

The professor was a fool. I had him next semester for a Political Philosophy paper and I bullsh*tted my way to A-

Yeah, I'd say Anathema is atmospherically heavy. Which is a good thing. Make sure you listen to Judgement loud. Spinal Tap loud.

The whole "turning it up to 11" thing has gone too far.  Even BBC iPlayer goes up to 11 on the volume control. LOL

Radiohead thinks piracy isn't killing music. I tend to agree, but it's also easy for him to say that when he is a member of one of the best selling bands in the world...

That's a great keyboard tone.

You were right in that John Zorn thread Henry, the only word I could use to describe Noah Creshevsky samples you linked a while back is disorienting.

I stole it from you, actually. I'm a bit of a plagiarist at times...Jacob's Ladder was really good, but I need to listen to the rest of them more. However, if I could find a sample of the new one and I liked it I would seriousy consider buying it. The title and cover art are great too.

I entirely agree (with the article).

Aww, shucks. Embarrassed

I liked the first couple of songs, but I couldn't listen to the rest, partially due to the fact that I couldn't read at all while listening to it.

Thirded. In light of that article, I feel like being ironic(or some other better descriptor) and pirating In Rainbows. LOL

It's also not killing the gaming industry either.  Why we need so much crappy DRM is beyond me.

Yeah, but I'd much like a hard copy. It's one of the few times I have a chance to buy before I have the chance to dl, usually buying takes a lot more effort than that.
