Here I am in this one. At 33 seconds you'll seem me taking a digital shot of Rothers doing his solo (I'm in the ball cap). Once I realize what's going on, I go over to help. Then at 42 seconds, I go over to help. I think I'm the only one with a ball cap (in this frame, at least).

You know, Joel, at first I was a bit bummed because I was so looking forward to hearing this song. With the epics night, I knew "This Strange Engine" had to be on the list. But to see h get frustrated to the point he throws the cricket bat you start to feel a bit uneasy. When the buzz started to circulate about this, I realized that I saw something quite special that night.

The other thing I remember was watching him on that final section when he's belting out "And is true" over and over; but that last one he reared back and just gave it all he could give. That really made an impression on me. Man, that weekend was special.

I can only imagine; The thing I love about Marillion is the little things like that little bit of extra effort in the last 'and is true', if that makes sense. Its all the extra little bits and enthusiasm with which they do everything which I love. Like in the last minute or so of Easter, how h yells out the 'what will you do?' in different rhythms over and over again. Its the things like that which really stick with me

Also, I just noticed we've made it past 600 posts in the Round Table

Laz, you'll at least get to see them in a years time. When Lucy found out on Marillion's forum that Montreal was going to be my first live experience with the band, her exact quote was, "Blimey. It's going to blow your head off." Honestly, as great as the DVD's are, they still can't compare to being there and in the moment.

Hopefully I'll be there to share it with you!

I love to throw out a post, like H crowd surfing on youtub, go to work for 24 out of 36 hours and come back and see you guys take off with it.  thanks to Joel for posting it as a link as I don't know how to do that.

we should see if the band will fly Joel from Oz due to his age and impossibility of making the convention.  So Joel how old are you?  I'll send someone at Marillion.com a message.

With the exclamation I meant to stimulate you to explain your opinion rather than feel attacked by it. I didn't mean to start the discussion CSB vs. Beautiful, I just wanted to know why you're keeping that opinion, seeing I've already tried to explain why I think CSB fits with the album.

Nonetheless, I am truly sorry, you misunderstood what I was saying, please keep in mind, though, that I am not a native English speaker like you three are, maybe you would say it in a different way than I would: I meant no harmEmbarrassedSmile

It's quite alright. Like I said, when somebody here (at least) says it, it's sort of in the tone of "are you @#%! crazy??!!"

I will not say such a thing again ^^

I know that now. We're cool?Smile

Definitely, now over to more important things: MarillionSmile

Ow, after having seen that clips I just can't wait to be there at the Weekend! I've seen Marillion live before two times: at the Less is More tour and at the Somewhere Else tour. I've purchased a lot f DVD's of course, and they are great!
Just wandering, what will a ticket to the Weekend cost? I can't find anything on that on the marillion.com; how much was a ticket last year, for those of you who could go?

No problem - I enjoyed watching the videos immensely. Also, Lazland, I think the main reason Rothery sounds so fantastic during that particular solo is because on the studio recording he uses an e-bow, and on that particular performance he does it the old fashioned way

Thats a really generous offer, but you don't have to I wouldn't want to take money away from the band, they're not as big commercially as they used to be as we all know And apart from that, I doubt they'd ever fly me over anyhow

I am 16 though, 17 in november

This is from what I understand, but tickets for the European weekend cost more because it includes lodging (this is assuming it's Port Zealand or any other resort-like area). In Montreal, we were on our own as far as hotels. I think tickets alone for Montreal was around $150 to $170 (approximately 105 British pounds).

I can ask my friend who attended the Marillion convention back in 2007 how much tickets cost.

Seriously, it's so much fun. The whole experience is amazing.

I just love the ending of this song. You can see him bend his knees a bit in preparation for that last note.

He nearly likes Marillion as much as I do, so thats a definite possibility, although I don't know if we'll have the time between school and work.

Does anybody have the dates for the convention? I had a look around on the Marillion forums and couldn't find much.

They haven't been announced, but usually within the last couple of weekends in March for the European convention, and the second weekend in Canada.

What a Fantastic ending to the song, maybe even better than the one from This Strange Convention, I think.

Indeed a superb bandClap

By the way, a long time ago I listened to Tales from the Engine Room and I have to say it is one of the worst things (a bit exaggerated) I have ever heard, of which I was reminded now I am listening to TSE more lately, but I recollect reading it wasn't made by the band, but by an outside project and thus the band had virtually nothing to do with it...Please tell me this is true, guysOuch

Joren, I never got Tales From The Engine room...nor did I want to. Same goes for Remixatosis. I'm happy with the original version rather than tinkering further.

Probably the best version of "This Strange Engine" I've ever heard is from Popular Music (or Wish You Were Here DVD). Absolutely blisters!

Just to let your all know, the latest issue of Classic Rock Presents Prog (I'll get mine tomorrow) features the band on the front cover and includes interviews with them.

I'll post the details when I have read them, but keep your eyes out for it.
