Same here, i'd love to hear another album from them that's similar to that, although it seems they're trying to distance themselves from such a vulgar style.

Ever since that album, they've been trying to fix something that ain't broke, and they've been sliding downhill...

Doesn't mean I won't get the new one though, I'm hopeful it will be better!Big smile

Based on Dominic's recommendation, I gave Antarctic a shot.
WOW, seriously, this is incredible stuff, stuff tightly constructed material.
Fantastic post rock-ish math rock, that I can safely give 5/5.

I dont know, I wasnt completely sold on Antaractic. I was impressed with the song structuring and how it was super noodly hammer ons and tapping, but I couldnt really find anything too jaw dropping about them.

I don't like that all math rock bands use that guitar tone, but the Myspace samples of Antarctic are very good.

Well guys its been quite a while since I posted here... (I think)... by the way new motW is amazing... didn't think I would like it since I don't like Kayo Dot... anyhow I just discovered this band called Tangled Thoughts of Leaving. Kinda like a mix between Heavy Post-Rock, Jazz, Tech Extreme Prog Metal and often features vocals. http://www.myspace.com/ttol their EP is free here: http://www.archive.org/details/LostChildren067

Been listening to this since seeing the post offering the ep for free in Get the Word Out.Excellent stuff!

If your a fan of the Tiny Fragments, Tangled Thoughts of Leaving also have a free split with Sleepmakeswaves (Sydney)

Not as chaotic as Tiny Fragments but some amazing song writing, creating some epic soundscapes.

Featuring WAM Experimental Song of The year 2009. (WAM - West Australian Music Industry)

I'm really enjoying the new Zion.

Does Kollaps Tradicional (Bury 3 Dynamos) sound like Scarborough Fair for the first 4:15 to anyone else?

Tongue  Well, you know how it goes...  What alot of these math rock bands lack in genuine textures, they make up for with innovative techniques and composing. Big smile

I haven't gotten it yet, but i've been enjoying the preview samples.

I've actually been listening to a new post-rock band (well, arguably) alot this weekend called "My Dad vs Yours" I wasn't sure about recommending it because it's nothing especially innovative, just very appealing to me. Anyways....

Also, because it's somewhat similar to post-rock, i believe that Jaga Jazzists new album is worth mentioning. That's probably what i'm looking forward to most this month.
