When in doubt, always play the most innacessible song on the album, and then when your parents object, shout - it's art man! Or, play some brutal metal.

My dad would probably put up with avant-garde jazz and the like, as long as it's not too loud. My mom on the other hand, if it's not  something she likes she probably won't listen to it. Neither of them would like me to play metal. Actually, neither of them have ever questioned my musical taste, as far as lyrical content goes. That's a good thing for some specific songs.

Yeah, anything other than "normal" singing will instantly disgust my parents. That is why when my sister plays rap she gets instantly told to turn it off. I bet she'd absolutely hate Trout Mask Replica.

My parents like a lot of artists of mine I'd think they'd not and they don't like a lot of the ones I'd think they would.  For example, they both seemed to like Magma and dad liked Univers Zero, but they weren't fans of Soft Machine or Caravan or Koenjihyakkei.   Mom relatively liked Henry Cow's Legend.
