I may be going to TMV with a girl I know ( ), but I don't really like them much. + I hardly have the money for the ticket she's selling.

Well girls do make concerts better, but the Mars Volta are venturing into epic territory by themselves. You'll love em after you see them live (I never have, but I can only imagine).

I like a couple of songs by them, but I only have Deloused and Scabdates.
Its still on the table, though.

I would get Frances The Mute if you wanted to hear more of them. Unfortunately, they're sliding a slippery downhill slope lately.

I'll definitely consider getting some more stuff, but I've just been really underwhelmed by what I've heard so far. I don't really get why Deloused is in the top 100 even.

Let's do the math...Wilson was born 1967 (so says Wikipedia and "Time Flies"). Script for a Jester's Tear came out in March of 1983.
That means Wilson was at least sixteen when the album came out.

I think the exact opposite. 1. Bedlam in Goliath 2. Octahedron 3. Amputechture 4. Deloused 5. Frances the Mute

My opinion is:
1. Frances The Mute
2. Deloused
3. Bedlam
4. Amputechture
Haven't heard Octahedron yet.
Have we ever disagreed about music before? Is this the part where the world implodes?

I can feel ya on that order though, Frances The Mute is one of those "hit or miss" type of albums. It's just like me with Rock Bottom...I listen to it and think "People like this sh*t? For real?"

I actually enjoyed Frances, but I don't think I could give it more than 3 or 3.5 stars. Some parts just aren't as enjoyable and I feel like the noise can be annoying if you're not in the mood for it. I really love TMV though. Octa, Bedlam, and Amp all get 5 stars using the 5-star scale (though in reality, they're all slightly different and Amp barely makes it as a 4.5). Deloused gets 4.

'Twas mine too, and then something from Frances just hit me like a ton of bricks and I finally feel like I just get the whole album. Magical stuff!

That is most of the reason I like it. Frances is good, but I have to be in the right mood for long atmospheric tracks that sometimes don't have a lot going on.

I was kind of hoping Cassandra Gemini could be my wedding song. I'm sure I could find a girl down with that.
