So, I had a natty idea for a game using Spotify's collaborative playlist function. You need a Spotify account to take part, so if you've got one then please spare a moment and give this a go!
The rules: 1. Add a song to the playlist. 2. The song you add has to link to the previous song in some way. It might be a shared word in the title, exactly the same length, about a similar subject, anything. 3. After you've added the song, post the artist and title in this thread and also what links it to the previous song (unless it's blatantly obvious). 4. Let at least one other person add a song before adding another yourself (in short, no posting ten songs in one go - the idea is that this playlist won't heavily reflect any one individual's musical preferences). 5. The song you add doesn't have to be prog. Right then, here goes: http://open.spotify.com/user/thehemulen/playlist/3yFPgYFvFZKQSqoSIbLoua My opening gambit is Robert Wyatt - Sea Song. Your turn! |

Couldn't we just roll a dice and move around a game board instead?

Yeah, I realise it's not available everywhere, but I've been wanting to use its collaborative features for ages. It's a great tool for sharing music (if you can access it). |

Well we could do the same thing with iTunes, I guess... (?)

Possibly... I don't use iTunes. Does it have a collaborative playlist function where individual users could add tracks? I'm not fussy about what platform we use - it just seemed a novel way to share music. Ultimately, it comes down to accessibility I guess. I didn't realise so few members here had Spotify accounts - you're missing out, guys! |

As soon as they make it available here in the US I'll be missing out less. |

Not really, but if someone posts a song, other people can easily find on song that shares caracteristics with the one above.

Good for you! If they hand out free accounts if/when it launches then snap one up asap. The only way to get a free account in the UK now is if a subscriber invites you. Fortunately, I got in there before they added that restriction. They're a cheeky lot. What with paid subscriptions and popping in adverts every now and again for free users, it's almost as though they're trying to make money out of it! And Vompatti - collaboration is a good thing. Share and enjoy! Edit: The original purpose of this thread is now utterly doomed, isn't it? Edited by Trouserpress - January 04 2010 at 16:12 |
