Minamo is really good. Not the electroacoustic group that Last.fm is focused on, the one with Carla Kihlstedt and Satoko Fujii.

Granted, I've only heard the first half of the first disc, but it's still great. It's like 20th century classical plus free improvisation. Now I want more of Satoko Fujii. She recorded a piano duet improvisation album with Paul Bley! And several albums with Tatsuya Yoshida! Not that I like Ruins (yet), but it's still cool. How are Carla's other projects? I never got around to them, really.

@ Henry:  I haven't checked out any of Carla's other stuff, but I have all of Satoko Fujii Quartet's albums. (which feature Tatsuya on drums)

Ah, I didn't know you were a Satuko fan. I'm starting to really like the idea of duo albums: it's enough instrumentation that it's not a boring solo w**k, but it also allows each person to play much more freely.

Although I'm still going to buy Anthony Braxton's For Alto, Peter Evans' Nature/Culture, and Okkyung Lee's I Saw the Ghost of an Unkown Soul, but I still stand by that as a general statement. ;-)
