Yes, definitely. They just recently (within the past year or two,I believe)  started touring again after some 15 years or so of not touring. I'd kill to be able to see them in concert. So yes, by all means go.Thumbs Up

Thanks! I suppose I must find their latest album and give it a spin in order to know what to expect.

Check out Perdition City too if you haven't already. Smile

That's pretty much what I was going to answer. You're lucky! Smile

Courvoisier Cognac bottle ready to be opened tomorrow. Maybe I should try it together with some music by Sylvie Courvoisier.

Wow. That's robbery.

I need some Ulver myself.

And damn, not enough cool RIO/Avant-prog bands have declared 2010 releases yet.

Ones I'm looking forward to though are:

Shining
Birds and Buildings - Multipurpose Trap (actually says 2009 on RYM but not sign of it...)
Univers Zéro
Guapo

I wanted to go see Magma in June, but the price kept going up and up...first concert ticket, then hotel somewhere in the area, then plane ticket to France, then my passport, then transportation to the concert, then food...just got a bit out of hand. LOL

Only not looking forward to the other two as I don't have any of their current material...though I did enjoy what I heard from B&B via the streaming audio, so I might as well add them back into my list of what I'm looking forward to. Tongue

Jon, B&B's Bantam to Behemoth is excellent.

Shining's album is excellent too.

That it does. Big smile

That's the highlight of my year.

I saw Magma
I met sexy Melissa again
I met Chris Syz
I re-met the guys from Guapo sans Dave Smith
I met Kristoffer from Ulver
I almost met Charles Hayward

All on the same day.

Epic.

I've been planning to get Bantam to Behemoth already, looks like I get to search for somewhere to listen to Shining.  I'm turning into a total RIO-head. Clap

In the jazz realm, Polar Bear's "Peepers" will most likely be excellent.  I've heard about 4 or 5 tracks from the album played live already. Big smile

And you know what?

Something makes me think Jean Louis may release an album in 2010 too.

Will Clivages be in UZs recent style or will it be in their '70s style?

I'm just curious.

Art Zoyd released an album this year too.  As did Doctor Nerve.

Jon, next time you want to come and see Magma, just give a loud shout on PA so that all Fenchmen here notice the issue and honor the famous French hospitality. Even I (though not French) have an extra bed for such an occasion. Wink

When I e-mailed them earlier in the year, they replied in English.

I may e-mail them again asking them if they have an album planned... they have new tracks on MySpace, so they're still performing. Big smile
