I was hopping between the classical section (my other 'major' musical passion) and the wide variety of Dream Theater albums my local had in stock. In the end I went for:

They also had Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence there as well, which I was tempted by. Another surprise came when I flipped through the DT CDs they had and out popped In Absentia by Porcupine Tree. I didn't see any other PT albums there, although, on thinking about it, this was the 'Metal' section, as opposed to other genres of rock.

Woot!  Early Christmas presents,

The 40th Anniversary Red has some great content.  It was the first video footage I had seen of the band, and a great performance at that!

Another Jackpot today.  Went by a local record store that was closing up shop.  Had all new stuff 30% off and used CD's 50% off.

For $28 I got all this plus an Aphex Twin, Annie Lennox, In flames, Iceburn, and 2 brand new Bob Marley 3CD sets that I will ebay :)    total steal today.  And The Porcupine Tree was brand new and had the bonus remix CD.

And some tech-thrash/death-metal gems:
 - Watchtower: "Control & Resistance" (1989)
 - Sadist: "Tribe" (1997)
