WOW....I just got this awesome split featuring East of the Wall,Year of No Light and Rosetta.

On my first listen and am on the East of the Wall tracks(3 of them) and so far very nice.Year of No Light has 2 tracks and Rosetta 1 track( a cover of The Cure song "Homesick").

And if you guys aren't familiar with East of the Wall they are definitely worth checking out.

^^this seems interesting, Rosseta and Year of No Light are very good bands..and i have  East Of The Wall s/t EP , but i haven'r heard it yet..i try to find time for that soon
these days i heard Trees To Sleep Under - Trees To Sleep Under , some good combination of ambient with post rock , and Autumn Moonlight - The Sky Over Your Shoulders, nothing spectacular, just usual intrumental stuff..

About time Rosetta and Year of no light release some new material!

So I've been listening to some funeral doom like Ahab and skepticism. Atmospheric as hell! Anyone else like the genre?

I like Ahab a lot but I need to be in a certain mood to listen to them. They are pretty much the only funeral doom I listen to though.

Have any of you guys checked Isis' second EP the red sea? It's heavy as sh*t!

i like it (and the first 3 or 4 releases before panopticon) more than any other isis material. red sea (song) is bone crushing. theres a sweet video on you tube of wasps destroying a bee hive to "Hive Destruction" off of Mosquito control EP (both heavier and better than red sea... but only just so)

heaviest sh*t on the planet.

Not to get off of topic, but if you are looking for good psychedelic, blackened funeral doom, check out the UK band Esoteric, I swear by their unique brand of despair and darkness.... they bring that genre to a new high-bar standard!

Shape Of Despair are pretty good; Funeral are also very good..

Have you tried October Tide (Katatonia side-project)?
What about Daylight Dies?  (best doom death project currently going imo)
Khanate is more brutal and extreme... but I love them all the same.
Shape of Despair are great.  Skepticism are fair.  Try Swallow The Sun... they rule.

I dont know man, it's really eclectic with all the acoustics, strings horns and engrish, I'm not sure how I feel how it compares to the far more linear book about my idle plot... which is pretty much a masterpiece.

I can't tell if your being serious, but i pretty much think it's better than "my idle plot..." for all those reasons.

I'm being serious, I liked the book about my idle plot because of it's simple, yet super effective formula of clean electric arpeggios + groovy basslines + Drums from the gods. I've only heard for long tommorow once though so I need more time with it. that was just my initial reaction.

Can I have a list of these bands and some of their albums? I've really been into doom metal since I got Katatonias Discouraged ones, though that album isnt quite as doomy as I'd like it to be...

I'd like to suggest for inclusion some guys, whom I know and respect for a long time. They've just released their debut self-titled album, which you may listen or download here - http://www.nicewingsicarus.com.ua/music/. Think of YNDI HALDA goes post-hardcore! And enjoy

Nice band, Prog-jester! Thanks! Good use of the violin. Such instruments use to be really low in the mix, but this is perfect. Also nice to hear some post-hardcore-ish stuff without vocals, I never really got used to them.
