PROTOTYPE will begin recording their new, as yet untitled, album next week in Los Angeles with Neil Kernon. The follow-up to the critically acclaimed “Continuum” will be the band’s third album and also marks the return of drummer Pat Magrath. Magrath will be laying down his drum tracks for the album with Neil Kernon at the helm, after which PROTOTYPE will return to their own Utopia Studios to complete tracking. Kernon is also scheduled to mix the album early next year. Songs set to appear on the album include “Catalyst”, “The Chosen Ones”, “Cynic Dreams”, “The Ageless Heart Of Memory”, “Into Oblivion” and “My Own Deception”. The album is scheduled for release in 2010 via Nightmare Records.

Aeon Zen update
Time Divide Records Ltd are pleased to announce the line up of Aeon Zen[1] Live and to release information of their debut gigs in London, UK in April 2010.
Joining Rich Hinks (Bass) is Andi Kravljaca (Vocals), Matt Shepherd (Guitar), Cristian Van Schuerbeck (Keyboards) and Mike Lennon (Drums). The live band are using a Roland M400 digital mixing desk linked to Roland M48 individual personal monitor mixers and Roland TD-20KX Drums. The London April gig dates and locations will be released to the Aeon Zen fan list subscribers first before being made public. To be sure of advance notice please join the fan list (if you are not already on it) at www.aeonzen.com/news Rich Hinks (Hometown: Cambridge, UK) says about Aeon Zen live: "I’m thrilled to have such great musicians to play in the Aeon Zen live band. I knew from the first time that we played together that this was my band to recreate my studio sound. We are all on the same page musically, and the chemistry is there. I’m playing bass live using a 6 string Hohner bass guitar." Here is what the other musicians of Aeon Zen live had to say about their participation: Andi Kavljaca (Hometown: Vårby, Sweden): "I’m on lead vocals, and yes I travel from Sweden to do these Aeon Zen live shows. I sang on Rich’s first Aeon Zen album and so it was a natural progression to tour with him. I was the vocalist with Seventh Wonder for four years and currently work with the labels Escape Music and Time Divide Records. Working through the live set with Aeon Zen is a great challenge, especially in view of the various styles and complexities of the music. I hope you enjoy it. I use Shure SM57 and SM58 microphones." Matt Shepherd (Hometown: Newmarket, UK): "I play guitar for Aeon Zen live. I use my Ibanez Universe 7 string guitar live and I use several amp emulators switched through various parts of the songs using midi controls. This allows me to fully concentrate on the part playing and backing vocals without having to tweak amp controls mid riff! I’ve been playing in live bands for over 10 years and work hard at my craft. I also played two solos on Aeon Zen’s album A Mind’s Portrait." Cristian Van Schuerbeck (Hometown: Santiago, Chile): "I play Roland Fantom X keyboards for Aeon Zen live. I had a guest solo spot on Rich’s "A Mind’s Portrait" album and I’m thrilled to be playing live with Aeon Zen. I met Rich when I was in Paris (France), but I now live in London. Prior to Aeon Zen I have played in the American band All Too Human as well as recording and releasing my own solo material. I’m kept very busy during the set and I love it!" Mike Lennon (Hometown: Newmarket, UK): "Over a regular three year period Matt and I have played together and it was through Matt that I first met Rich on a recording session in 2007. We then met up 2 years later for this live work and I was thrilled to be offered an opportunity to play live with Rich’s Aeon Zen. I’m using Roland TD20KX drums live giving sampled drums which gives the audience a fabulous sound, true to the studio and it’s a great looking kit too." [1] Aeon Zen are a UK based progressive rock/metal band formed in 2008, led by the only permanent member, vocalist, guitarist, bassist and keyboard player Rich Hinks. In a brief career, they have been praised and heavily featured in the international music press, labelled by Classic Rock Magazine as ‘a strong contender for best newcomer at the very, very least’ and, additionally, as Progression Magazine’s selection for "debut album of the year". To date, Aeon Zen have released a single album, A Mind’s Portrait. The second album, currently untitled, is slated for release on Time Divide Records in 2010. |

American progressive metallers SHADOW GALLERY will make their live debut as part of the Triton Power Cruise, which is billing itself as the "first-ever progressive/power metal cruise." The event takes place from April 30 to May 3 and includes the following: cabin, all food on the cruise, a pre-party on Thursday, April 29, 2010, party in the Bahamas, all concerts, meet-and-greet, Beatnik Rhythm Analyzers-sponsored drum clinic featuring Casey Grillo of KAMELOT and more. Optional upgrade will also be available for a private party with all the featured bands.
"We have waited a long time to bring the music of SHADOW GALLERY to the stage," said guitarist Gary Wehrkamp. "There are many talented bands performing on the Triton Power Cruise and we are honored to be a part of this exciting event." Bandmate Brendt Allman added, "This will be a fun event, a long time in the making." Beth Mays of Triton Power Cruise said, "It is my sincerest honor to have SHADOW GALLERY give their first performance onboard the Triton Power Cruise." Triton Power Cruise performance schedule: Friday, April 30: EUMERIA SEVEN WITCHES CIRCLE II CIRCLE JON OLIVA'S PAIN EVERGREY Saturday is a free day ashore in Nassau Bahamas with a planned party. With "Digital Ghosts", SHADOW GALLERY's members Brendt Allman, Carl Cadden-James, Gary Wehrkamp, Ashland and returning drummer Joe Nevolo (who appears on two songs of the record) have focused their powerful energies on creating a seamless blend of progressive, metal, and symphonic rock as a transcendent work of musical art that advances the boundaries of these genres into new directions. Futures End
Hello friends!
I am happy to report that Marc Pattison, Steve DiGiorgio, Jon Allen, Fred Marshall, and me - Christian Wentz - are plugging away at the writing and pre-production of music for the second Futures End album.
We have been holed up at Chief Dog Studios in California for the past few weeks, digging through stuff that we had put together during our sessions in the past couple of years as well as tossing out new riffs and ideas that may or may not ultimately become songs.
This time around, Steve is more involved with the writing than he was last time and it is going as smooth as I could have ever hoped it would. Three new songs have been birthed and we are all very excited about how things are working out. The music is most certainly Futures End, but it shows an inevitable evolution, a growth that is apparent in everything we are doing. It will be hard to follow Memoirs of a Broken Man - even for us - but even at this stage of the game it looks like we are going to be able to deliver another great piece of work to you all.
I am shooting a lot of video of what we are doing and when I get a minute, I will compile a bunch of it for you all on our youtube channel. Ill let you know when you can check it out.
In the mean time, stay metal!
Christian David Wentz

Symphony X
Just got off the phone with MJR; he wishes everyone a Happy New Year and reports that the writing of the new cd is progressing well. He says that the riffs are written and all the ideas are there, they're just trying different arrangement ideas right now. We talked about how we're back to the usual routine of trying to find new ways to say the same old 'the band is writing the cd', and he said "It's hard to say. Every day is different, we're just doing our thing & trying to make the tunes cool. You put something together one day and then come back the next day & listen to it; sometimes it's cool, & sometimes it sucks & you have to change things around." They're still hoping to be done with the cd by spring.

Good news on the SymX album, thanks.
Any word on a release date for the new albums by Haken and Pain of Salvation, both should be early in the new year? |

As promised, an update from Haken.
(extract from email received from Hen)
"The album is pretty much there. All of the music is recorded, mixed and mastered, we're all extremely happy with how it has turned out, we couldn't have put any more effort into it. The artwork is in the final stages of completion (Its looking great!). Unfortunately, It looks like the release date will be moved back to either February or March due to the schedules being stretched a little. As soon as we have a concrete date of release we're going to give a huge update on everything that has happened over the last few months."
