I've listened to lots of new albums this year, but virtually none of them are 2009 prog.

From your initial list, the only albums I actually consider buying are Wobbler and the Tangent.

But can anyone tell me if Andy Tillison's singing (and his morose lyrics) has got less irritating? For me, that's what ruined NOT AS GOOD AS THE BOOK, you see....

2009 was a pretty good year for me, my favorites include:

1)  Phideaux - Number 7

far ahead of the rest

2)  Mew - No More Stories . . .
3)  Agents of Mercy - The Fading Ghosts of Twilight
4)  Riverside - Anno Domini High Definition
5)  Muse - The Resistance
6)  Porcupine Tree - The Incident
7)  Derek Sherinan - Molecular Heinosity
8)  Dream Theater - Black Clouds and Silver Linings
9)  IQ - Frequency
10)  The Whirlwind - Transatlantic

mmm hmm, that's right, The Whirlwind gets number ten.  When we get new Transatlantic and it only ranks tenth for the year . . . it's been a good year.

Um...  Magma's, Cheer-Accident's, and Gong's.  I still haven't gotten around to giving Gong's a proper listen.

I've heard very little from this year as I've been catching up on so much music from the 60's and 70's.  However, there are various albums I want from this year -- Aranis', Led Bib', Present's, Miriodor's or something different from my usual fare.  I hope to find one album that expands my musical horizons as I'm not progressing that much in terms of music appreciation.  I mean, I ended up giving E-Re a five (which I may change), and that's re-hashing to a large extent. So I'm getting stale.  I need something fresh, that sounds truly unique to my ears or gets me into a genre of music that I don't generally listen to.  However, if it ain't smellin' fresh, I'll settle for something that smells funky.

EDIT: Noak's list is intriguing me.
