Asia, Alpha and Phoneix were nice albums .... I am hoping that this new album is going to be more progressive (maybe another Drama, Going for the One or...just maybe ... Tarkus, Tales From Topographic Oceans or Red)

Phoenix was a quite good album... But I was much more impressed by the live DVD 'Fantasia - Live In Tokyo'. I would love to see them live IRL.
I also hope that they release another live DVD with a set list that is radically different from Fantasia. Hopefully with some of the new songs (from Phoenix and from this upcoming album) as well as different Yes (something from Drama maybe?), King Crimson (a song John Wetton actually wrote this time?) and ELP (preferably one with vocals!) songs. I would also like to hear them play songs from UK and GTR and perhaps a song or two from the John Payne-era albums.
As for instrumentals I would love to hear Steve play Aqua Part 1 and Geoff the instrumental piano version of Video Killed The Radio Star (which is much better than the vocal version IMO).
Looking forward to future projects (studio and live) from Asia

I'm just really thankful that John Wetton has come through his heart problems well enough to tackle the stress of recording and touring!
Did anyone really think that Asia would turn out to be such a long-lived prog monster when they first came out? Kind of blows my mind! I like your ideas of select material including GTR, Drama (little-noticed gem!), and Wetton-era Crimson. These guys have a vast catalog to play with!! Peace to all....

This would seem unlikely. Contrary to the musicians backgrounds, ASIA (self admittedly) was never really a progressive band but more of a pop/rock band. However, it is fun to fantasize about what they could sound like if they slide over to the dark side. |

Phoenix was a decent album, and I hope they go down the more progressive route that was hinted at on that. They no longer get the hit singles or mainstream AOR airplay of the 80s, so the original rationale of needing to be 'more commercial' doesn't apply any more. With the partial rehabilitation of prog they might actually sell more albums being ambitious than by sticking to the 80s cheese!

Agree with Cactus; in other words who exactly is their audience now, if not us, who are mostly interested in them because of their pedigrees? Do they really need the marginally more commercial success, at the expense of all that talent?

We still have some hope....have you noticed that songs get longer each album? (Asia's longest song was Here Comes the Feeling - 5:40, Alpha's was Open Your Eyes - 6:26 and Phoenix's longest was Parallel Worlds - 8:12 ... the next step is an epic!!!... I am just dreaming awake) |

Absolutely cannot wait. Phoenix was very solid reunion album, and they were excellent live last year.

This song is actually not really new. It was released already on one of Wetton/Downs Icon albums some years ago. Not a very good song either |
