Topic: RIP Eric Woolfson (Alan Parsons Project) Posted: December 02 2009 at 11:06 |
From Eric Woolfson's Facebook page:
We are very sad to have to tell you that Eric Woolfson passed away in the early hours of this morning after a long and brave battle with cancer. He very much enjoyed seeing all your kind comments and posts on this Facebook page and his family wanted to thank you for your appreciation of his work.
Sad news indeed for fans of Woolfson's work, both on his own and as a driving force behind The Alan Parsons Project.

Wow! Very sad news indeed. I didn't even realize he was sick. I recently added two of his albums to my list of necessary purchases too, his further tales of Poe and his album of unreleased APP songs.
His music gave me quite a lot of enjoyment. RIP Eric!

I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?

Quoting Eric's Facebook profile:
"We are very sad to have to tell you that Eric Woolfson passed away in the early hours of this morning after a long and brave battle with cancer. He very much enjoyed seeing all your kind comments and posts on this Facebook page and his family wanted to thank you for your appreciation of his work."
Eric Woolfson was the main songwriter of the Alan Parsons Project. He also played keyboards and sang on a good amount of tracks, like "Eye In The Sky", "Time", "Don't Answer Me" among some others.
After departing from the Project, he moved his career to the musical theatre scene, writing plays such as "Gambler", "Gaudi" and "Poe", where he'd use some of the material he wrote for the Project as well as new material.
Recently he released "The Alan Parsons Project that Never Was", a compliation of unreleased tracks written in his career.
I'm very sad for his passing, since he was a great influence in my life.
Rest In Peace, Mr Woolfson. Thank you for everything.

By all accounts indeed. As I sit here Im researching The albums
"The Turn Of A Friendly Card""Stereotomy""Eve" "Pyramid" and "Gaudi" and "Eye In The Sky" Compositions for these 6 albums, including lyrics and music, is by Eric Woolfson. The guy was certainly the essential force behind The Alan Parsons Project.

Sad news, he was a great composer and singer and without him APP was never the same.
Have to say that The Eye in the Sky is one of those songs i never get tired of listen.
